Major Mint Error? Need Appraisal!

I've found this older looking quarter at work yesterday and I was shocked when I picked it up. One side was completely blank and the heads side seems to be missing its edges. I came here to find out if its genuine or not.

You can plainly see where the quarter was ground/sanded/cut down. Pmd!!

you are wrong on your probability - I can make a quarter look like that with a grinder and NO WASHING MACHINE
I am right on the probability of the OP coin. 100% so it is a fact.
It is a genuine but severely damaged quarter.
Not a mint error and 100% intentional. This was most likely done by a dremel or belt sander with some hand sanding.

No. I work at the dollar store and this was given to me by a customer as payment.
@Rhiannon.... Welcome aboard. Definitely Post Mint Damage (PMD). You likely get to see a lot off change, keep looking... good coins are out there.... though not common. Silver dimes and quarters are also good finds. Cheers, RickO
