  Most basic answer: because it's cheap collecting fun.

  Geek answer: I'm trying to see how far I can go in assembling the entire set of 1921-P VAMs. There are currently 452 of them (but new varieties are being discovered every year). I currently have 348 different ones, plus about 80 dupes, plus 5 that I think will be new discoveries.

  Aha, I figured it might be a VAM thing. There are quite a lot in the 21 series. You must have a super detailed spreadsheet.
