Thinking of you friends (can you spare a GTG-revealed in comments)

A little levity in light of some other threads. :)
So while you are here, can you spare a grade?
What did this one earn at PCGS?

Pretty coin, I like the color. :)

I like to wait to guess until you reveal the grade, that way I'm sure to get it right. ;):D

Edited to add: The joke is on me, I thought I had seen this one before. :D

    MS-63

Very nice toning, some hits hidden on the obverse, so I’m going to go MS-63.

MS64. I was going to say 65 but the toning seems to be hiding some chatter in the obverse field in front of Liberty.

64+ although wouldn’t surprise me if it got a further eye appeal bump to 65.

Pretty coin with lots of color. But I see the toning hiding a lot of marks. I would say technically a MS62.

Love the color. 63 is my guess. A little baggy, but still a terrific Morgan.

Very nice MS63. What do you think the graders saw as limiting factors?

    Thanks!
Luster tends to be a limiting factor on some toners but this one is strong enough for a New Orleans minted Morgan (although not on par with the luster seen on 1880/81/82-S Morgans). There are bag marks-I'd say definitely enough to prevent a gem grade. The neck area has a slightly deeper mark. Technical grading would put it at a 63; a color bump could have eked out a 64/64+....I would have liked to see at least a 63+ but I'll take the upgrade I got.

I do like the colorful toning and should have given it a bump for eye appeal.

To me the scratch from the bottom back of the hair to the rim as well as the heafty hit above were the limiting factors to me. I think if the coin was white it would've graded 62.

Aha, a trick guess the grade! I guess 62 or 63 could both be correct, then. 😀 Anyways, nice coin, I was thinking either 63 or 64👍

It depends on who you ask (don’t ask ricko :D) …..I paid up for it in the NGC 62 holder but it wasn’t moon money (in my opinion).
