Took a flyer on a couple of 2c pieces. Can you grade them based on fuzzy photos?

Just for fun, see how well you can interpret these fuzzy photos and come up with a guess of a grade.
When these two coins arrive I'll post better photos and see how far off or accurate we were!

They don’t looked cleaned
65 vg/f
64 vg/f - kind looks like a small motto diagnostic but i'll say it is large
VF?

I hadn't considered cleaned. I hope not. I am also in the FN12 or so camp.
.
if you assessed the condition in the F range, what is the flyer? i am under the impression taking a flyer means taking a chance, implying that there is a chance something pretty good could come about from taking the flyer. or is the more accurate intent on just taking a chance at all? there isn't much value to these in this condition even if perfect for the grade.
i presumed you were going after a variety or perhaps the 65 will be much better in-hand that the dark/fuzzy pics indicate.
certainly i can wait until you get them in-hand to find out. some suspense often times adds to the flavor of victory!
I think they look VF
This is why they're worth a shot:
First, they were a bit under $20. per coin, and perhaps the 1864 is a SM (probably not- I can't tell).
Second, there is also a chance they're VFs.
Third, the same seller had these two Barbers at $20. all in (shipping paid). So, checking the other auctions noticed these two-cent coins. He had them listed under "seated dimes." I purchased them too.
Fourth, the seller mostly deals with odds and ends and doesn't specialize in coins.
They look VF to me, but those are some pretty bad pics. Best of luck!

nice!
i certainly wasn't trying to harass ya; i just got the impression there was a bit more to the story but again, i could/can wait.
i didn't get an lol for that SUPER creepy cat so maybe this one will get it done.
Using the Helen Keller method of coin grading, I'd say VF...

Oh yes, I can grade with accurately with those...duh
I stared for 15 minutes - saved the photos, tried blowing them up, I got nothing for sure. Every time I think I can see how much of the horizontal shield lines are gone, or the grouping of leaves are flat and not separated, or what looks like blending of a rim, I gave up and said I need glasses.
I do a lot of online auctions, and truthfully - if those were the pictures I had, and I simply wanted to put in a bid and hope for the best without getting hurt - I would bid VG money and hope for Fines. Just with those pictures, I couldn't see a VF coming out of them.
But when we're talking about GS values split between 16/18/24 for VG/F/VF does it even matter? Even if they are VF, you're lucky to get $15-20 retail on them, VG/F, you're going to lose money. But... you're only out a few bucks and really what you're hoping for is the Small Motto which GS in VG/F/VF is 200/300/400 that's the real upside here. The only letters you can even tell are letters are the right picture ('64?) with some of trust, but those do present taller and as the large motto I guess with what little I can see or not see.
If you look at the angle of the "S" middle cross-bar, it does appear to be closer to the Large than small.
Who knows - you could post pics when they are in-hand and we'd all be surprised, but that's my take on them. VG/F common coins. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
PS - I’m not slamming your decision to give it a shot, I have 3 lots prepping to ship/in transit that I did the same thing with, where I’ll either be out a couple of bucks, or do rather well from fuzzy pictures too.

i've learned a lesson. NEVER argue with the discoverer of a MAJOR ddo that has escaped MANY of the greatest variety hunters numismatics has ever produced and escaped them for many decades.

I would not even attempt to hazard a guess from those pictures. I wish you good fortune on your purchase. Let us know how it works out. Cheers, RickO

These two coins arrived and nothing special. Each perhaps problem-free VG08s.
Good Dansco fillers.
Thanks for the update. The Barbers look decent, though. I think you will fine with them and what you paid. They are also very original.
