I still don't understand how an "unlimited" mintage item is sold out.
Unlimited means if they have enough silver planchets and enough time to keep producing them they would keep selling all year as long as people are still buying them. It does not mean a bottomless pit of coins will be available.

I assume the W will not go on sale at the 12:00 time on April 14. Any remaining coins that become available may pop up any time. Time to go for the Congratulations set on the 14th. Good Luck with early morning fishing!
Likely will still gone on sale except noted as back ordered with a remind me button. I'm still undecided on my 100 coin allotment reservation. If anyone wants my enrollment, PM me an offer that I can't refuse.

Unlimited mintage means no limit to what they can strike.
Sold out means they have sold all that they have already struck. There could be a planchet problem for further inventory or they may elect to strike more later. The ASEs already sold are already on the shelf.

Specifically looking at congratulations set collectors and limited edition set collectors. They put the designation on the slabs.
30,000 is not many. Plus the congratulations set collectors know last year they put the type 1 reverse in it. This is a key for them.
We’ll see. I definitely think the mint site is going to crash very quickly and then the release becomes spotty as to when they become available. 😉🙀🦫🎣
I am glad I have not been bitten by the American Silver Eagle bug. I was close once, but lost interest early on. Four type coins, Proof and Unc., of the two designs are good enough for me.
If a private dealer was playing these games, the collectors would ignore him or her, and that dealer would either shape up or go on the hungry line. Since the mint has a monopoly, they don’t have to shape up. They can charge monopoly prices.
All I want is a 2022 silver Proof set. Those sets have never been popular, and now that the Mint over charges for them (Last year three less silver coins, same price.), I should be able to buy one for too much money. Or perhaps not. They might all be “subscribed.”

I cannot imagine there being any market for the flippers on these. The enrollments have made large quantities easy to get.
Agree, look for enrollment quantities to be reduced by buyers during the two-day prior to sale opportunity. This should free some up to be available day of the sale. Those wanting one should place their order even if it says "backordered." I'm pretty sure, still undecided, that I will cancel my 100 coin enrollment before the deadline.
This is the easiest flip in history. People need to look at the market before saying these things. Dealer WHOLESALE on ALL proof silver eagles is currently $83.

They just minted over 500K W proofs and continue to spit out silver bullion coins with no apparent delays. At this point I'd say they are experiencing no shortage of planchets. I do however expect this to change. Keep in mind that the cancelled Peace and Morgan dollars require specially sized silver planchets. The mint is dependent on outside sources for all silver planchets who in fact may be having their own production supply chain delays.

The Mint has priced these too cheaply at $73.
And I can currently buy one from a flipper on ebay for $98.49. While they might be an easy flip, easy doesn't make them very profitable after expenses. In addition it will be hard for the small flipper to compete with the big boys who can settle for little profit on high volume of graded specimens. For that reason, "I'm out." Since you see such potential, I will however be willing to flip my 100 coin allotment to you for a nice profit. Make me an offer I can't refuse.

If you had them in-hand, it would be easier to make an offer. The price changes daily but has been over $80 for several weeks now. Let's do the math - assuming you know a wholesaler:
100 coins @$73 = $7300
100 coins @ $80 = $8000 (wholesale )
Insured shipping = $250
Net profit = $450 just for going to the post-office. That's really not bad.
What would you need to get on them to want to mail them to me?
Admittedly, if you are buying 2 coins without access to a wholesaler, then the shipping eats up most of the profit. But if you have any quantity on the things, It's a couple phone calls and a mailing label.

Yes, this was the same with the American Women quarters silver set.
There is a product limit, and this should be posted.
This allows them to not limit themselves by saying sold out or having a defined limit. If they have the time and the planchets they can mint and sell more later in the year, It is not over until the sold out sign goes up. I still would not bet the house on it even at that point. Remember that "box of chocolates" thing.

This is good info for the Proof Eagles thread. I have noticed with several of the most recent offerings they follow the same pattern. The Rhode Island Dollars, The Sally ride P & D Coins and most recently the silver proof quarters. The pattern is a lot of pumping from the mint that they are in unprecedented extremely high demand. They are either sold out by enrollment or shortly after release. Then about a week after their initial sale date huge amounts of these suddenly become available again and in the case of the Rhode Island and right now the silver proof sets they are still available, The Sally Ride P & D coins are not available from the mint but are hardly selling online. What happened to all the unprecedented demand? My prediction here and reason why this applies to the silver eagle thread is that I believe the same thing is going to happen with the W Proof Silver Eagle. I wonder how purchasers of these will feel when these sell out from the mint the day of release and there are 50,000 of these still available from the mint 10 days after release . We will see. I hope I am wrong.
OLC you may be right. One forum member who had enrollment for 100 of the ASE already had second thoughts. He is trying to presale them on the Buy, Sell, Trade. If he does not find a buyer he may cancel order. This could happen in large numbers and like you said, many may become available.

Always remember "You never know what you are going to get"
I think the only difference between the ASE-W and the congratulations set is the packaging.
Per Coin World:
"Mint officials said the production limit for the single Proof 2022-W American Eagle silver dollar is 500,000 coins [...]"
Source
That compares with 300,000 last year.
I cannot believe it will actually sell out. Lots of cancelations coming.
Ditto on the 40-coin trays for bulk buyers, and the coin in the 'Limited Edition Silver Proof' set.
