1st Proof Lirot I've seen - sold last night on ebay.
"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko.
Just like they overshot the numbering on the MS versions, would love to own #60/59.

On ebay this AM - likely not new to census but serial numbers now available. $4000 each.....

Been awhile since this thread has been bumped... found this one at the ANA show in Anaheim a couple of weeks ago. Didn't know that a Regency Sample existed until I saw it!!!
Also, the Byron Reed Collection pedigree is pretty neat, though it's not clear whether the coin was part of that collection or whether this was made as a sample for the museum which now holds his collection in Omaha.
Great coin!
Couple of notes.
This seems ti be listed incorrectly in the OP.
1979-S / $1 / Sample / None
It sold for almost $3,500!

I have been interested in the design of holders ever since purchasing a silver dollar in a PCGS Regency holder. Earlier this month one such “sample” holder, believed to be the only one of its kind, sold on eBay for $3,449.99. Owned by numismatist Michael Kittle, who purchased the holder at the ANA World’s Fair of Money in Anaheim.

nice i was just watching some stuff on pyramids/sphinxes in the sahara and that coin and slab i think may have come from a section that was uncovered near the base or perhaps one similar!
a study of the erosion type on the structure shows the sphinx may be considerably older than previously thought since the surrounding structures were subjected to wind erosion mostly while the sphinx appeared to be water-worn!

Very cool ... I have never seen proof strikes in the Regency holders either. Looks like PCGS certified at least 59.

Did it sell for the bin $899 price?
I tried searching eBay closed sales and it shows $899 as the best offer.
Can anyone confirm this?

LOL... love it, but that doesn't look at all like David Hall.
MIA? Does this mean no one is updating the Census?
