This has to be a mintmark error or no?

Sure looks like it to me I don't see any evidence of pmd near it. 1977D by the way.

Looks like a die chip? Or it's the jalapeno privy, nice pictures though.

I'm confused by the title: "mintmark error".

Are you asking about the mintmark or the thing to the left of it?

The thing next to it looks like whats left of a d no?

I can’t tell if it is raised up or into the coin

Also can you take a photo of the whole date & mm area?

No. It looks like a die chip that also just happens to resemble a pepper.

    Could be a minor strike-thru.

    No.

On my screen it looks incused, in which case it could be a struckthru.

If it is raised it is a die chip.

It has nothing to do with a mintmark.

    No.

On my screen it looks included. In which case it could be a struckthru.

If it is raised it is a die chip.

It has nothing to do with a mintmark.

Based on the shadows, it is raised.

Large die chip.... Not a part of a D... Just a random location. Cheers, RickO

Save it for 3 cents melt value. They will add up over time. I've saved over 400lbs worth already.

The shadows are ambiguous. This is one of those pictures where it could go either way, and once you see one way, you can't see the other.

That does happen to me also. Your brain gets programmed. But the mintmark is raised. If the jalapeno was incuse, the shadows would be on the opposite side.

I guess I'll wait for the OP to let us know, but will neither hold my breath nor lose sleep over it.
