Are you asking about the mintmark or the thing to the left of it?
The thing next to it looks like whats left of a d no?

No. It looks like a die chip that also just happens to resemble a pepper.

On my screen it looks incused, in which case it could be a struckthru.
If it is raised it is a die chip.
It has nothing to do with a mintmark.
Based on the shadows, it is raised.

The shadows are ambiguous. This is one of those pictures where it could go either way, and once you see one way, you can't see the other.

That does happen to me also. Your brain gets programmed. But the mintmark is raised. If the jalapeno was incuse, the shadows would be on the opposite side.
