Half-Grade Rookie Run. PSA 1.5 - PSA 8.5

I was trying to think of some creative ways to organize some of my cards and came up with the .5 grade rookie run. I was surprised at how many key rookies I have in .5 grades. I would love see how far others have gotten on .5 grade rookie run so post what you. have.

David, those are some super nice cards. The Mays and Aaron look incredibly nice for the grade.

Thanks! When I purchased it ungraded, it was in a screw down, probably for 20+ years. I suspect the screw down caused the spider wrinkling on the surface of the card.

    What I Collect:

PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.16% Complete)

PSA Pro Football HOF Rookie Players Set Registry- (Currently 19.87% Complete)

@JBrules if I have one critique it's that you should try to focus more on centering.

@graygator: Very nice run. Thanks for posting. That Jackie is incredible looking for a 2.5. What makes it so low?

Supposedly it’s because there’s a little glue residue on the back.

Graygator : The Jackie Robinson 1948 Bowman 2.5 is an absolutely beautiful card. Does it have paper loss on the back of the card? I don't have a ton of baseball anymore, but mine are from the 80's. The front end and back end of the greatest decade.

LOL :D I said to myself was that my card at one time? I do remember selling it to you. I think it has slight paper loss /glue If I remember from what I PSA told me. I know I tried to get a bump at the National one of those years. I'm glad you still have own the card. If you ever want to sell it back, LMK :)

Here is my Lefty Grove Exhibit rookie in a 5.5.

Amazing how much that card has shot up in value over the last few years. A lot of the Exhibits rookies are following suit after the Gehrig Exhibit RCs entered the stratosphere.

When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Single run here. Still looking for a 1.5 and 2.5…. Only 3 in total have those grades. The 3.5 is a pop 9 out of 85k graded.

This is (a part of) one of my favorite sets on the boards!

Thanks! It is the only half grade run I know of. There are a few who did the whole grades only.

I love half point grades especially 8.5’s. My favorite in my collection with a .5 grade.

    Keith,
That is an outstanding example. Looks so much better than the grade.

What? No 9.5 Griffeys ? DId you buy them or send them to PSA? If so, how many did you have to send to get all the half grades.?

Yeah, still looking for the 9.5 and and the PSA 10 black label.

I bought this run one by one.. Trying to hit a mid grade half is like a needle in a haystack.

Thank you JB. I still can’t find what is wrong with it with a loupe. It looks like an 8 to me. Speaking of 8’s I need to pick up a Ryan rookie in an 8 this spring/summer.

You bet, took a bit to get to it, it couldn’t pass it up. Thanks, hope I come across one! With all the grading happening that pop isn’t budging…

Edit: I have been thinking of trying this for some of his other rookies, Should be cheaper, but probably harder to complete.

Some beautiful cards here, love the Payton RC. My only complaint with half grade cards is with PSA, if you are going to give out half grades then add them to your price guide.

Love this Card! Picked up this card in the same grade in summer 2020 before football vintage skyrocketed like everything else and am happy i did because it sells for much more than i paid for it.

Loved seeing all the half pointers!

While not a nice run of the half point grades like the OP, here are my half-grade rookies.

Very nice run of half-pointers. Some great looking cards that look as good as many 9's. Thanks for posting.
