1974 D Quarter Possible debris on Obverse?

Hello, I think I know what everyone will say about this quarter, PMD! Just about every coin that has been counterstamped that I have seen shows some form of damage on the other side of the coin the counterstamp is made. This 1974D shows no such damage on the reverse and the coin is not raised or deformed in any way. As deep as this circle is one would think one would see some form of deformation caused by the damage on the obverse. Is this post mint damage? I am leaning towards yes. Pease tell me what you think

Looks like it was punched with some kind of tool.
I think I see slight flattening of the eagle's legs.
Agree that I'd expect more reverse damage, but there may have need efforts to reduce the damage during stamping.
Agree with PMD. It may have been sitting on something softer like leather or wood when counterstamped

Something in a drill press? The eagles feet and legs seem to be a bit flattened.

PMD....Likely stamped on leather.... Often done specifically to avoid the reverse damage on coins. Cheers, RickO
