    Fine

If a picture wasn't going very well I'd put a puppy dog in it, always a mongrel, you know, never one of the full bred puppies. And then I'd put a bandage on its foot... I liked it when I did it, but now I'm sick of it.

    I'm seeing at least vf-20 or 25. I just sold an xf-45 $10 of the same date and mint....purchased as a vf+

Mtg 16,400 - nice! VF35 but a VERY weak strike? Doesn't happen often but I've seen grades like that before.

VF-20. Netted due to the hits on the reverse.

    Vf 20 also.

And the older I get, the more I appreciate absolute scarcity vs grade rarity.

Amen. I will not play the condition rarity game.

    Details-cleaned
Details-authenticated via bite mark on the reverse.
But I assume all of that swept under the rug when it comes to scarcity.

Counterfeit would be my guess. The O mintmark looks to be added. Also the denticles beneath the date seem to be wavy.

EDIT- It could just be the way it looks in the photo.

Not sure how PCGS grades Gold rarities with damage, but I think this is a VF35 coin that if not details would grade VF25 due to damage.

I was one of the first to respond to this, and was conservative, but after thinking about, I'm upping my estimate as well to 35 because there is a lot of meat on this coin, the strike is weak which is common, and it is an old and scarce piece. The services are just easier on these pieces, and I agree with the leniency. I wish I kept my $10.

Oh Well, so much for the higher grade, light strike theory!

Maybe in a newer holder. They were not known to be well struck. I think the grade is about right.
