    Many low value proofs are being tossed back into circulation. Unfortunately, once the are circulated any numismatic value is largely gone. They are still good album space fillers.

    I found this like 10 years ago. I just like collecting. I don't plan on selling.

    The reason it looks different is because it is a proof coin.

    Now that it has circulation wear and marks, it is worth a nickel.

    Good eye for catching it.

    I know it's a proof lol just awesome to find one. I work with money. Not very common to come by.

    Nice find... Occasionally, proof coins show up in circulation... Usually old sets being spent or kids sneaking some coins from Dad's collection for ice cream. Cheers, RickO

    Your picture looks like it could be a DCAM, which is not very common for 1968-S nickels. Nice save.

    Gonna take a hella nickels for an ice cream these days. Back in 1905, a nickel could buy you an ice cream, hot dog, or admission to the nickelodeon. Kids those days had it easy. Today they practically have to steal the whole collection to get enough nickels for an afternoon on the town. Sad...
