1983 Wheat Penny

I have a 1983 penny in not so good condition where Lincoln’s face is tripled. Is it worth getting graded?

You need to call the coroner's office, that cent is d.o.a. Peace Roy

If it were really a 1983 wheat penny (as your title says), maybe.

As it is you have a damaged and corroded cent. Spend it.

You have a damaged coin not one that is tripled, spend it quick before it rots away.

I believe you’re mistaking damage for “tripling”. The shapes and details don’t match those of the coin’s design.

If you spend it quickly before it falls apart its worth $.01.

Classic "Zinc rot" damage - as stated, a spender

as said before, that's not tripling or doubling. it's damage

    it is corroded.

That's a."Mission Impossible" coin. This coin will self destruct...

Zinc rot progressing. A good coin for a slow motion magician. Now you see it, now you don't.

If you know it's in not so good condition why would you want to have it graded?

Definitely a severely damaged zinc cent. Spend it - quickly, before it deteriorates further - and it will. Cheers, RickO

Be sure to weigh those 83's.If 2.5 g you've got a spender unless you see doubling on the reverse. Then investigate further.could be 1983 DDR. If your '83 penny weighs 3.1 g you might have a real treasure,a 1983 bronze cent.Penny shown is zinc for sure. Spend it or throw it away on your lawn for fertilizer.

No need to weigh it since the zinc is already exposed

Yes the disintegration of the OP's 1983 penny is obvious. It's a zinc.I was just trying to provide additional information about 1983 pennies.
