$$2021-P CROSSING THE DELAWARE WASHINGTON QUARTER D.D.R./ERROR??$$

So a couple years ago I started casually collecting coins that I thought looked cool! In September I found my first 2021 Crossing The Delaware Washington Quarter from the Philadelphia Mint in my pocket change! I started to really check out the detail and stuff and to my surprise the reverse had some differences than the US Mint’s images on their website showed! So I started to educate myself in errors, rarities, and varieties! But I’m still left with a question after months of research! Is this quarter an actual error?? Is it a double die I mean there’s clearly double lines on the leg and coat? The extra lines make it look as if his coat is open flapping in the wind, while the US Mint’s image looks as if his coat is all one piece, or is it actually a dress?? Is it a striking error? Or is it my imagination??? I’m joking about the last one, but Please help because I’m absolutely confused!! Lol I’m begging!!!

P.s. The last image is from the US Mint of the same quarter!!

Nice find. Not present on my example from Philly. However, I cannot offer a determination between MDD and true die doubling. Suspicious enough that I suggest contacting the folks at CONECA.

Yeah. That’s the thing with this one. I’m looking for a crisp edge on a flat shelf but it doesn’t look like it is there.

But I’m not good enough to say yes or no.

It’s still the weekend … and next week is a major coin show. I’m still recommending patience for the replies.

I’m interested in the results here. I’ll bump it up each day with hopes it’s seen soon.

My first thought is MD, but I would second the idea to post this on the CONECA site and get some feedback there.

    1. DO NOT EDIT YOUR FIRST POST - I think the bug we old timers know about is making your stuff disappear.

I see the differences in the pictures... Just looked at the coin I have here by my computer, and it does not have the 'anomaly' circled in the OP pictures.... I wonder if it was a die modification that was missed. Just a thought... Cheers, RickO

I just checked one that I had in my pocket.

Good news: I don't think that yours is MD.

Strangely: Mine doesn't look like either of them.

Mine has more details in the skirt.

I'll try to pull out my microscope later, if you are interested in seeing it.

I have been watching this and originally thought that the bow (or whatever that horizontal boat part is called) was oart of the question. It appears very different
in each picture,. Just different strikes/die variety?

It appears to me that the lower right part of the cloak is doubled arcing down around the fore leg. See the red arc in the yellow circle

I have been following this thread, and glad to see the pictures posted. I just checked my quarter (got it in change) and it does not have the doubled leg shown above. Not that I really expected it... ;) Cheers, RickO
