Found silver

rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

I almost forgot to show this. Yesterday, walking out of work, across the parking lot, just as I got to my car, I looked down and found this 1964 Washington quarter (P). Not a candidate for a slab, but nice to find silver.
Cheers, RickO

    Hey, BINGO!

Good for you, dude. Even though it wasn't anything super old, in quantity or even a rare specimen. We all know that split second reaction that only us coin geeks can receive. "It's SILVER, by golly!" Maybe now, RickO, it's the beginnings of your quest to hunt down those hard to find, "W" Quarters? Couldn't of happened to a greater guy. We all here on the forum are happy for ya. ;)
You even qualify for a happy dance.

Very nice. I got a silver 1945 wartime nickel in change last week, and my dad got a 1916 cent a couple weeks back. There’s still gems out there!

    Nice, @ricko!

Question - was it heads up or tails up? I generally only pick up coins if they are heads up. Of course, for a silver coin I might make an exception.

Don't want to hijack the thread but perhaps we could all list our best finds:

    1) A live $7500 bonus check in an envelop in a parking lot
    2) $2700 Hong Kong dollars and change in a Four Seasons envelope in the Singapore airport
    3) A small change purse with a few hundred dollars, credit cards and a driver's license on a Barnes & Noble bookshelf
    3) A $100 bill in the grass along a sidewalk on our morning walk to the coffee shop
    4) A $20 bill that landed at my feet as I was watching a Christmas parade in Pompano Beach, Florida
    5) A change purse with about $4 in change at a department store in Illinois

What is interesting about the above is the impact each find had on me. When I found the $20 in Florida, I was with some buddies for the winter and we were down to our last few dollars. I was about 10 years old when I found the change purse with $4 in it. Both were more impactful than the later finds due to my financial situation at the time.

Anyone care to share your stories?

    Tim
