Show me your 1909 S V.D.B.

Please only post the S VDB ;)
Any grade and please post both sides. Graded or Raw

I don't have one in any grade. :/
I have been thinking about getting one and want to see yours. :)
I have been looking at them over the last year but haven't found anything that speaks to me and says "take me home."
I'm thinking I would want one in the AU58 to MS64 range, but may look at anything in the XF45 to MS65 range.
Not a buying thread..... I spent all my money on X-Mas ;)

Since I don't have one to start the thread I found this sexy one on CoinFacts. <3:)

Although I have never owned one I found one in a box of Wheat Cents I was going through for someone.
It was a shoe box full of cents and I would guess there was around $50 worth in it.
I went through the whole box with no great finds, I got down to about the last 30 coins and there it was.
It was a nice coin with good color in about the low AU range but it had graffiti, If I remember right it said "Bert"
The person I found it for was super happy! :)
I'm not sure what they did with it.

Appears to be a woody, too. Nice.

This was one of my favorite SVDB’s. The ex-Pete Miller monster. I wondered who was the lucky new owner. ❤️

I think I will go ahead and order Gold Shield for my S VDB. I'll never be able to get detailed enough pics by doing the imaging myself.

UPDATE: Not in a hurry to get Gold Shield (12/26/21). I was mildly surprised at the results I got doing some imaging myself. Not the greatest of pictures but certainly not the worst.

UPDATE 1/3/22: PROVENANCE WILL BE PRESERVED. MY COIN WILL REMAIN IN IT'S ORIGINAL PCGS AUTHENTICATED AND GRADED HOLDER.

I submitted this back in 1992. I bought it raw for $500. I was present When some guy put it on layaway at my then LCS. At the time, I told my dealer if he ever had another 1909 S VDB that looked like that, I definitely wanted to buy it. When I came back a couple days later, my dealer advised me that the man decided he did not want to buy the coin. It was again available. I immediately snapped it up. I might send in for reconsideration one day, or send to CAC. Always wanted one of these coins as a young collector.

Thanks for creating this thread - lots of great 1909 S VDBs. Hope you do one for the 1922 no D crowd.

Lots of nice '09-S VDB's here! I was thinking about a nice circulated one for my Box of 20, or do an early MS Wheat Cent. Lincoln Cents from circulation was the first set I ever attempted as a kid (most people start this way) and this issue was always "The Holy Grail"...

My favorite SVDB posted by others. I would be proud to put this one in my album. It's a great piece From LR obverse die.

Sold mine, as I am liquidating lots of expendable coins and narrowing my collection down. When/If I add one again someday, it will be 63/64 RD/RB minimum. Hard to locate the perfect example with no distractions whatsoever. Maybe I'm just too picky?

Don't anybody jump off a cliff but from reading in Harsche one would know that seanq's raw SVDB is genuine. Parentheses seen in the quote below are mine:

"A variety of die deterioration of the No. 3 die (PCGS #4) exists wherein there was die erosion in the area of the mint mark and along the rim near the date and under the bust. This makes these areas appear grainy as on many of the S mint coins in the mid 1920's (especially 1924S). If the piece is a No. 3 low right (PCGS #4) mint mark and has this feature, it is genuine."

    @mr1874

Dude! All this talk using an old reference that no one has a copy of and then saying die #3 is die #4 or die #6 is #1 that you have mentioned in other threads just confuses readers and kinda makes you look like you need to do a lot more research and pull your head out of the sand and accept current authentication standards.

Or are you just messing with me and playing jokes on my threads???
I have tried very hard to be patient and help you in every way I can. :'(
