1964 Kennedy Half Dollar - Opinion?

I was going to give this to my nephew, but wasn’t sure if it was something of value. I’ve reached out to see if it is, but wanted to ask you guys as well. This came packaged in an envelope that said “1964 Presidential Collection.”

Any help would be appreciated.

    Very clean looking set also. Just fyi, the half, quarter and dime are 90% silver.

    Thanks so much. I kept seeing these articles about 1964 Kennedy uncirculated half dollars and I got nervous. Appreciate the help! This wasn’t a proof set, FYI. It came with a notecard from the US mint that said it was legal tender but Uncirculated. That’s why I asked.

    If it’s a kid. Kids spend money. Give it to them and let an adult hold it

    If an adult make sure to say there’s $13.70 in silver there.

    I’m so confused. This came in an envelope similar to that. How is this one different? I’m not trying to be argumentative - honestly. I am trying to learn.

    The envelope is a typical 1964 Proof Set envelope. Note the designation "1964 P. C." That stands for Proof Coins not Presidential Collection. 1964 proof sets are very common. The value is mostly in the silver.

    Here’s why this is super cool - (and it is a proof set which is great , most people like proofs better - they are typically better struck) but the cool this is because 1964 was the last year we made “real” money!! It is the last year that dimes, quarters, and half dollars were made of silver.
    I have several of these / and I have PCGS PF68CAM proofs of all 5 coins and I love it.
    What a great gift - make sure to pass on some history my friend!
    1964 really important year for coins. Was also first and only silver Kennedy for circulation (someone will probably correct me there) but do some research - what a score!!

    Here is an example of my 1964 proof dime - see the difference between cameo and not? Pretty cool!!
    The cameos are usually that way because they were struck early in the life of the die. As more coins are struck they lose the cameo (CAM) appearance...

    Very nice proof set... Too bad it was not an 'accented hair' half....would be even better. Proof sets are really nice.. well struck coins. The silver value is great, and the last year for general circulation silver coins. Cheers, RickO
