I don’t think that was my “error“ – a data entry error!

Maybe they could only fit so many characters on one line and the data entry person didn't think it mattered.

They are both one character. Someone didn’t hit the ‘shift’ key.

LOL, Fred, you had the exact same response to another PCGS error label coin I posted awhile ago.

My guess is since many error descriptions are unique, and the date inputers are not used to the descriptions, they make more data entry mistakes.

I would guess they didn't hit the shift key because they didn't understand the need to. I see it all the time in my line of work.

EOC-even When we write them up on the submission forms with block letters and pressing hard on the forms – we get error labels back with mechanical word errors – most I send it back immediately -if it’s a minor mistake on the label I might not send it back

you are assuming they are using the U.S standard of the imperial unit. They could be using the length of a cricket foot as the measure.

This is a nice looking coin. I like how it goes through the 9 but PCGS doesn't call it a 1X64 date ;)

Of course, being a 1964, it can really only be that date given the 90% silver composition.

Here's a question, If the 4 is obscured and the coin is 90%, would it be listed as 1964, or would it be listed as 196X due to potential transitional year errors?

  • FredWeinbergFredWeinberg Posts: 5,973 ✭✭✭✭✭

    (1964) is a possibility
