Itannicnic - The Cincinnati Numismatic Association

The Cincinnati Numismatic Association's coin club medal says "ONE ITANNICNIC" on it. Does anyone know what it means and it's significance is, aside from being Cincinnati spelled backwards?

Here's my original silver piece.

That part isn't backwards. Tilikums.....Indian tribe in the Seattle area.

Some places in the U.S., backwards would not make a difference.... i.e. - Hannah, SC, Semmes, AL, Okonoko, WV, Glenelg, MD, Oktahatko, Fl, and Wassamassaw, SC. Cheers, RickO

I was lucky to be able to add to my One Itannicnic collection today by picking up this pewter die trial from the 75th Anniversary from Ron Landis.

Great to see Ron’s participation in this!

Nice pick up. I was tempted by a few things on his site yesterday but held off. Very tempting though.

I too was thinking to pick it up, but glad it went to someone here.

I own the original set as a member here was kind enough to sell it.
I bought this from Ron a year or so back before the website items came for sale .
I always wondered if he had a few pieces that were die trials because my copper has the same
Die polish lines where the finished sets are super clean looking.

Love the pieces and observations. I was looking at that copper die trial when it was available well and I'm glad you were able to pick it up!

ITANNICNIC is from the Cincinnati Numismatic Association and we have some members here.

When I was at Coin World about 90 miles north of there we had one of the originals in house, and one of the old-timers pronounced it "it-ah-nick-nick." Don't know if that was correct or not, but it sounds plausible.

As a member of the CNA I can attest to this being the correct pronunciation.

Now, find an original with the members name engraved or better yet one of the original gold issues!

I never even seen either an original engraved one or an original gold one! Do you have either? Have you seen either?

Took me a long time to accumulate these three examples

For me the most beautiful example of a Cincinnati token/medal. I'll take this over the Cincy commem any day!
