    Even in that condition a Type 2 1916 SLQ has gotta be worth a few thousand dollars.

    1916 or 1917 SLQ? The coin belongs to a friend, I'm no expert on the subject, but when I look at certain diagnostics, I see details that make it obviously a 1916 or 1917 with no date. So here's a photo:

    You coin is a 1917. A 1916 wouldn't have such strong shield rivets or the half-circle curve at the bottom of the drapery next to Liberty's right foot.

    I saved this from a thread someone posted here years ago about cherrypicking a 1916 in a lot of dateless type 1 SLQ's listed on eBay. It's an image from that eBay auction. Can you spot the 1916?

    The shield rivets are a dead giveaway… strong rivets = 1917, weak rivets = 1916.

    The 1916 in the above picture is on the right, third row from the top.

    I've now learned that strong rivets in the shield is the 1917 dead giveaway detail, thanks everyone, that's why I check here first.
