Kind of reminds me of the toast that appeared to have the Virgin Mary on it that was on eBay that ended up selling for like $100,000 if I remember correctly. Also the Cheeto that resembled some kind of animal (I think) that sold for thousands. So people do go crazy sometimes for weird/odd things.

Am I the only one here that thinks PCGS slabbing a dead cricket is a dumb idea and is not a good look for a serious grading service? PCGS should buy it and dispose of it and hope people forget they ever saw it.

Yes, that is what I was thinking and also the animal cruelty angle. It just does not look good for a serious company.

Closing in on 10k views with 4 days to go.

Any guesses where this will end up?

Will PCGS do a press release on this? :)

This sort of thing is great. It started innocently and became a phenomenon. Attempting to repeat the process would be useless, but this one is special because of the true novelty.
The graders killed a cricket and slabbed it and however many years later it took on a life of it’s own (mo such Lucy for the cricket). And ending the auction on Halloween will only add to the lore.

They named the dead cricket Lucy? Just when you thought this idiocy couldn't get any more bizarre. :o

Normally I fix my fat finger typos and autocorrect incorrections when I realize they exist. In this case, since I named the cricket, I’m leaving it in case I need to sue the new owner for marketing it with name I accidentally provided for it.

"Lucy the Cricket" sounds like a song title. Reminds me of Mac the Knife.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
