Hard to tell from the pictures, but it's probably an issue with the copper plating.

  • It’s very cool...just wondering what the raised marks are? Will send pictures of the back as well. Cheers

Plating bubbles/blisters. Probably a precursor to zinc rot.

Plating bubbles. It is corrosion or damage. Quite common on post 1983 cents.

  • Just a very cool penny

  • Why is it so different in color then this other 1983?

Pennies or either copper or copper coated, and the copper will change in color depending on oxidation, wear, and contaminants from handling or otherwise. They tend to turn browner over time and with use.

  • Check it out...probably only a few pennies on eBay!

Just plating blisters that have popped and the crater is what is left. Cents (not pennies) can be lots of different colors depending on the crud that they have come in contact with while in circulation.

Plating bubbles and environmental discoloration... No numismatic premium. Cheers, RickO
