Registered Parcels delivery time?

Dug13Dug13 Posts: 336 ✭✭✭✭

I stopped by the local PO and inquired about sending a package by Registered Parcel.
The clerk was not familiar with Registered mail and couldn’t locate on his screen.
My main question was, How long ,typical would it take to go from Midwest to West Coast?
Anyone familiar with Registered Parcel deliveries?

I just waited 2 1/2 weeks to get a parcel sent registered from 2,000 miles away.

very uncommon, normally 7 to 12 days coast to coast. Shipping priority registered does not expedite the shipment. Priority registered fee (vs. first class registered fee) is required when over 16 oz. or when taking advantage of flat rate priority box due to extra weight.

Good news is that insurance is included in the fee based on the declared value.

There's no standard time. I had a registered package go from Rochester to Brooklyn (a 6 hour drive) and it took 12 days. I also had a registered package go from Rochester NY to NGC in Florida and that took 7 days.

The first rule of registered mail is that there is NO ESTIMATED DELIVERY TIME. If you need it fast, you NEVER use registered. If you want it secure, you use registered.

    That is very discouraging.

I once had a clerk tell me she wasn't good with doing registered mail buy she certainly knew what it was.

I am assuming you were at an actual PO and not a 3rd party business that does USPS mailing.

Two weeks ago I sent a registered package from the Midwest to CO. I sent it on Monday and it arrived for pick up on Friday. The actual timeframe depends on how many times it needs to be locked up along the way (at least that is how they explained it to me).

NJ to PCGS last week: 6 calendar days.
I used the Medium Flat Rate Box, in case that matters.

For this parcel, having it secure is more important than quick delivery. Just was unsure of the time. 2 weeks seems reasonable.

I was at a official PO, rural branch. One man operation. At the moment their turnover rates are crazy high. About every month there is a new clerk.

When tracking shows registered is stuck in one place for more than a few days it normally indicates item was put in a safe and forgotten. A USPS Help Request Form inquiry will often give it a nudge and get it moving again. The form generates internal emails within USPS to the last known location.

My Registered shipments have run between 10 and 14 days. I do not ship Registered a lot, but has always worked well. Cheers, RickO

I've been shipping quite a few registered packages lately. Hope I'm not jinxing myself but my average has been running around 5 days the last couple of months!

I shipped a Registered package yesterday at 1 pm..... out for delivery today.

That is the fastest I have ever seen a Registered package move.

Pretty much the only way I can hit a triple 20, too.

Well, my most recent experience is 7 days to get to CAC via Registered. It was also my record for speediest Registered delivery. It took 15 days to come back from CAC via Registered. I'd say you should expect at least 2 weeks at a minimum going forward.
