I bid on a lot at HiBid of what was described as 1909 VDB cents in an old cigar box. I thought there were about 150 coins. I won it for $200 + $25 shipping. First thing I did was count what there was, 131 Lincolns and 4 low grade Indians. I was about half way through them and saw the S. I thought to myself, CAN'T BE. IT WAS!!! A little Blu-Bow and it looks the way it does. I sent it off to ANACS, arriving there today. I've sold all but 2 low grade coins on ebay. The rest were VF-BU. There were 9-1909-P, 3-1910 and a 1914 included also.

XF45 if it is real. I'm no expert on these and would not buy a raw one. Very high quality fakes have been around for decades.
The coin looks approximately AU50-53 to me.

Genuine. A nice looking die#3. Prabably AU-53 or 55.

I would say AU55.... Just based on the pictures of course... Cheers, RickO

That is awesome!
Can't beat an AU 09-S VDB for under $200!

Cool. They're still out there! Nice condition too.
I agree that it looks genuine, I say XF45 shot at AU.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
AU50.
not certain which is more scarce, cherrying an 09-s vdb OR cherrying one that is authentic!
gratz to the OP!
XF45.
No lower than au-50.

If it comes back authentic then I'd have to say..... You Suck!!
I was at a local pawn shop years ago, the dealer there 'knew everything'.
So, I picked up a 1909 S.
Sent to the other place, and now in a F-12 holder, S VDB
BHNC #203
ANACS is finalizing the grading. They gave it AU58. I'm happy with that.
I agree with that grade
I thought it was a 55+/58-.
Nice pick.
