    What PMD would cause this?

    Looks exactly like Machine Doubling to me - "flat and shelflike".

    If it were a doubled die it would need to exactly match photos of a known variety.

    But great photos in any case.

    It looks like the O may have taken a hit but the rest is MD

    Nope. Machine doubling all the way. Flat and shelf-like doubling with no notching.

    Yes MD - more exact "Slide" or "Push" Doubling as you can see the doubling looks like it is "pushed" from the devices.
