I have a 198? Jefferson nickel. It's over 60% off it's mark. But what has really baffled me are errors on front and back that are obvious typos and not smudged by off center stamping. On one side America is spelled AMFRICA. It is an F not an . On the other side the Liberty is an obvious UBLRTY. These errors are clear and unquestionable mis-spellings. I have taken pictures so if anybody can give me an idea of how common these errors are or what I should ask for the coin if selling. Please I'm new at this.

There’s no way a genuine US mint product would have misspellings. Immediately makes me think foreign counterfeit.

Right click and copy image then in your post window right click and paste image, wait while it loads 2-3 seconds and then your photo will be there.

@Yellerd .... Welcome aboard... Yes, we will need pictures to help you. That being said, it is certainly damage or wear since there are no misspellings on coins. Cheers, RickO

Could be. But usually you can tell if something is misspelled or just missing bits.
More likely damage or grease. The misspellings he mentions are really achieved by a grade filed lower bar in E (or scratch) and an LI that appear to be a U due to damage or machine doubling.
Even counterfeiters can spell...or copy

I have no idea. It slightly resembles a challenge coin but I don't think it is.
It's an enameled pin where the bottom bar on the "E" either didn't form or got enameled over.

when a coin is struck not completely in the die, there is no outside die to keep planchet in place. This is needed to fill empty spaces in the die and fill the letters completely. Here is an example from Heritage. Error values depend on many things. Your coin could be worth in the $50 and $500 range.
We'll probably never see the piece.
