3 interesting finds...

Hi guys
Yes, to start my day. Went out before work to hunt down some neat finds. First went to the bank to cash in coins. Found some little lost gems in the trash can next to the machine. Then, hunted down a coin I was interested in for quite sometime now. I got it! Lol. Here are the three interesting finds for today.
First , isn't this the first of the first Chuckie Cheese tokens before they changed their name?

No date?

Then, also in the trash.

Sure appears Silver?

Then finally, Not in the trash! :D

The 1998 Matte Finished Kennedy

along with Bobby's coin too. The set.

The STAR of the show.

What a way to start my day.

Silver plated quarter most likely courtesy of HSN. Found one in a bank roll once.

The JFK matte proof is cool!

Later, I'm going to remove it from the holder and examine very closely. If I don't detect any noticable hits or nics, I'm sending it in for a possible 70. :)

Yep. There are lots of those, not just from HSN, although by 2011, maybe. Eventually the owners try to sell their prized valuables to the coin shop only to be told they are worth less than face (takes time to disassemble the fancy cases) and end up taking them to the bank.

Question: will Coinstar reject plated coins?

I have never been to a Chucky Cheese, so can't help with the token.... but that is a nice Kennedy set there...And it certainly may be a 70. Good luck, Cheers, RickO

Does anyone know why some have a mintage at 61,000+ for the 1998s Matte finish Kennedy? Although, the Certification slip reads the mintage at 500,000? Confusing? :*
    Thanks guys.

    Thanks guys.

COA says "mintage limit" (i.e., the maximum allowable).
    Actual mintage was ~ 62,000.

Interesting Article #1 - 'Kennedy Collector's Set' was only source of '1998-S Matte Proof Kennedy Half Dollar'.
Interesting Article #2 - Info on 'RFK Commemorative Coin Program', and the limited order window for the set.

Thanks for the info. So, the final number, 62,000! Very low number. Under rated coin, indeed. Thanks
