Here are some updated COVID generated requirements for Long Beach. Will it affect your plans to attend?

Welcome Back to the Long Beach Expo! We are so excited to have you join us again this year.

BRING YOUR MASKS! And Vaccine Verification Card (digital or physical) or Proof of Negative Covid 19 test 72hrs before each day you plan to attend. If you plan to attend the show for three (3) or more days, this means you may need to get tested again later in the week at Long Beach.

THE LBE has been working closely with the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center and the City of Long Beach to ensure compliance with all public health and safety protocols for the well-being of every Long Beach Expo participant. Per the state and local government guidelines, masks are mandated for all indoor gatherings regardless of vaccination status. In addition, beginning September 20, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours before each day you plan to attend the Long Beach Expo will be required for indoor events with 1,000 or more attending. These mandates will be enforced at the entrance of Hall C. The mask mandate will be enforced inside of the Halls and Meeting Rooms and throughout all indoor spaces of the facility. All dealers and attendees will be provided with a wristband once verified. Verification will happen every day. Dealers and attendees that don't meet the requirements WILL BE REFUSED ACCESS TO HALL C.

For more information regarding the new mandate, please click this link.

Please check back right before the show for the latest protocol updates.

In addition, the LBE will:

Have 8ft aisles to encourage social distancing
Provide individual bottles of hand sanitizer for each company that has a booth
Hand sanitizer stations available throughout the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center
Provide disposable masks available for those who do not have a mask

Airport testing information can be found here: Fly Safely with LGB (longbeach.gov)

Alternate testing sites for Los Angeles County can be found here: COVID-19 Testing (lacounty.gov)

The only time that I ever went to the Long Beach Show was 1982. I did not care for it and have never been back.

I love it. It will be interesting to hear dealers’ feedback on business.

If I read this correctly, it will allow for covid positive entry as long as you have a vaccination card.

The worst part of the current restrictions is the division of the People. Obviously many of us here would love to attend, but only some of us actually will.

I am not anti Vax, but have not been vaccinated yet. A local bluegrass festival here in Kentucky just announced similar requirements, and my wife was wanting me to take her for her birthday next month. I won't be able to now. I have mixed feelings on this. If you are vaccinated, you should be protected from those that are unvaccinated. I guess we'll see how inconvenient things get for those that have held out so far like me.

Vaccinated people are getting COVID in California and everywhere. My vaccinated wife and I got rapid tests on Friday as she had close contact with someone who had Covid ( also vaccinated). The Dr told me that those who are vaccinated and who are getting Covid now walk out of the office with mild symptoms. Those who aren’t vaccinated and testing positive are mostly headed to the hospital and it’s terrible. I’m in LA. I do not want to be around anyone who hasn’t been vaccinated. So the Long Beach restrictions work for me. At the end of the day its better then no show at all. We haven’t had one in 18 months or so. I’d love to go.

    mark

From what I'm seeing here, most covid cases are still not ending up with hospital visits, though they are definitely on the upswing. My kids (and probably I) had it back in June. I'm hoping it was the delta variant so that we will have some immunity now. Thankfully the vaccines are offering decent protection, no matter if you catch it from a vaccinated person or an unvaccinated person.

Why poof? Attendance requirements for a big coin show are perfectly reasonable to discuss, especially since our host has a well-established relationship with this show.

Actually if I understand correctly the masks are more for protecting the unvaccinated from those who are vaccinated.

+1, no surprise its CA. I'm sure that this show will be like any other, lots of sales dealer to dealer until the prices are maxed out then wait for the public to show up. LB is the only large show I have ever gone to and was thinking about attending this one, no big deal these restrictions just mean I won't be spending any money on coins there.

I guess it has changed. My doctor and his family had to apply months in advance and say why they wanted to visit death valley. He was shocked - who's going to be in death valley hanging around.?

So for dealers, this effectively means they must be vaccinated. Dealers are at the show for 4 days in a row. And at least in my area, Covid tests are readily available, but you don't get the results for 24-48 hours. So if you need to show a negative test result 72 hours before each day you plan on attending, this would mean you'd have to get tested pretty much every day in the days before and during the show in order to have results w/in the previous 72 hours. Probably not possible to meet this requirement.

Unfortunately, the restrictions will result in several dealers not doing the show. I have heard from a few that said they definitely will not attend. Seems like there are several that refuse to get vaccinated and there are others who refuse to wear masks all day. I believe the public attending for just a single day will be able to better manage the restrictions.

Hope the public shows up... and if many dealers don't, hope that results in more deals for me. I'll be there waiting in the long line each day to show my PAPERS PLEASE!

I'm guessing these requirements will dramatically reduce attendance by families with young children. Wonder if the show will cancel the popular Saturday YN Treasure Trivia altogether?

It wouldn’t be a big deal except for 1 thing:

The delta variant affects children and it is more contagious, even to the vaccinated.

    Delta is a game changer

It's more contagious but not necessarily more virulent. It may also only appear to affect children more. A large percentage of children are represented in New cases, but they are also the largest unvaccinated group.

Nope, don't wear a mask ever. Been kicked out of a lot of places, but just spent my money elsewhere. I take that back, yes, on an airplane to go to a state that does not have any requirements. Boy that made a lot of sense.

Folks, you can buy a FDA-approved home COVID antigen test that doesn't require invasive swabs way up your nose. It is $150 for 6 tests and each includes a teleconference with a "proctor" who watches that you do the test correctly and sends the results to an app on your smartphone. It takes all of 15 minutes (and maybe a little waiting to get the proctor online.)

You can just walk into Walgreens or CVS and pick up the box of 6. If you get your physician to "prescribe" it to you, your insurance may even reimburse it (mine will). Otherwise, you can use a Flexible Spending Account.

I will be bringing this test to Mexico with me to use for the testing requirement to re-enter the US.

It really is no big deal.

I’ll attend, I’m vaccinated, and I’m looking forward to the show, but if it was 5 miles to the south in Orange County we wouldn’t be talking about folks wearing masks, proof of vaccination, or negative tests.

Masks AND vaccination cards? I'll pass. At the ANA, I walked around with my vaccination card in a separate badge holder and no mask. Several dealers. like Fred Weinberg and the folks at NGC/PMG, who had mask-only signs at their tables saw my card and said come on down.
