I would rather spend that money on coins.

I thought hard about bidding but just couldn't justify it. This happens to me every time a 2.0 or 2.1 is offered. :s

Would never want four of them. If I every buy one, it would be 'one and done!'

I sold almost all the NGC 2.0 and 2.1 i had . The premiums are IMO way too high . When a common Washington 25C in 2.0 went for like $450 or so at GC , i decided to let them go .
I am very surprised they keep going even higher , especially the 2.1 . Smh .

About 2 years or so ago you could sometimes pick up a 2.0 for less than $200 on ebay .
    A 2.1 for about 200-300 .

The 1.0 Black holder is an even more extreme case . The cracked ( several places ) Morgan 1.0 that sold at stacks went for over $5k . Using this example as a valuation point a problem free 1.0 holder Morgan would should be worth like 10K or more .

Well, put me in the “one and done” category. I bought the Walker tonight in your honor.

I bid on the MS 65 Morgan but was out at a few hundred less than the final price (didn't expect to win it). I am also surprised how much these have increased over the years. The slab premium is doing quite well!

    That one is NGC 4.

The reference I use, not sure if there is anything more recent --

Amazing premiums for the holders... I do not collect holders, so have not been aware of the premium increases. I may have one or two... however, if so, they would have coins I like in them, so would not be for sale. Cheers, RickO

I think I have a couple of Morgan dollars in those type holders if anyone wants to pay me that kind of money for them! PM me for pics!

    Oh . . . wow.

I was able to buy most of mine from KryptoniteComics back 'in the day'. Every one was in the $195-$220 range. Most were Morgies. . . . just 63s and 64s. I thought they were cool . . but started to sell a few to Board members here about 18 months ago . . . just for what I had paid, so they could get one for their "collector's holder set".

Jeeeeeesssss! Now it looks like a common (2.1) is going to garner $700+ on the open market. NGC Blacks are STARTING at $6500 . . . . .

I don't harbor any ill feelings at all . . . and am glad history is getting its due! Yup . . . I got a few left and wow . . .am I watching the market!!!!!!!!

Only one of these was unlisted in the census.

I am constantly/still amazed that the census of 2.0s is less than 2.1s, even though they came our after the 2.1s.

Crazy results, holder fanaticism. And many dealers have no idea these have such premiums, so they buy them based on the coin and sell them at a slight premium.

I often wonder if the prices would have realized high result if they spaced each one out a month

Yes, was wondering the same thing. I think we went a couple of months with no 2.1's listed on ebay and then seven in the last couple of weeks (two of which were listed as 2.0's). As it was, I felt fortunate to get one at the price I did given the current market for rare plastic.

I bought the couple I had in that same price range (they were also Morgans in 63/64) but ended up selling all soon after for not much more than cost. I didn't really like the coins in the holder back then and didn't want to have $200 sitting in an average coin. I certainly didn't predict the increase (thought the slab premium would remain fairly constant and they would continue selling in the $200-$250 range for the foreseeable future-boy was I wrong!).

They all ended up doing quite well anyways but it is interesting to debate. I think the seller might have been able to make a few hundred more total if spacing the coins out.

I was thinking this as well. But if the seller was lucky enough to buy these as generic coins without a premium, then it is real money real quick.

I chatted with the seller (very nice guy). He purchased them in 2019 so I think he did quite well.

@Meltdown it depends whether the gold colored logo is inside or outside of the plastic.

I like these, never owned one. At these prices I likely never will. :D
This is as close as I’ve gotten:
I like these also and they’re a lot cheaper. They’ve been priced as the coins, no slab premium:

I had a Morgan in a 2.1 that i sold for something like $425 or so a while back .
    I was offered a Walker in a 2.1 before i sold the Morgan 2.1 i had for under $400 but i passed.

I was surprised the Jefferson went for what it did . It is the only Jefferson 2.1 in census . It is a WWII silver type and a proof . I thought it would have gone for $1200+ .
