NEWP - Interesting Round

Over the past year, I’ve purchased a wide variety of 2 oz. silver rounds from Limited Mintage, having learned about them on this forum. Most of my purchases have been “tributes” to Classic U.S. coinage (Buffalo Nickels, Standing Lib Quarters, Morgan and Peace Dollars, Trade Dollars, Seated Dollars, Gobrecht Dollars, etc.). These are 39mm in diameter (about the size of a Morgan dollar), but almost 1/4 inch thick. Their 2 oz. rounds are currently priced at $61.39 each plus reasonable shipping.

As you see, my forum “name” is Winesteven. They finally made available the below 2 oz. round (at the above pricing), but 50 mm. Gorgeous artwork at about $7 per oz. over spot. I love it!

they sometimes make 50mm 2oz rounds but most are 39mm

standard 1ounce generic rounds are 39mm

their pricing fluctuates with silver. refresh and you have a new price.

Bravo! Will there be a round of Château Pétrus as a celebration?

Ha! I wish! But I will be opening a bottle of Screaming Eagle later this year.

You’re one of the most polite gentleman on these boards. I’d love to see (either post or DM) your Gobrecht Dollar tribute as it’s doubtful I’ll own an authentic one. As far as wine 🍷 I prefer magnums; reds only‼️

    1. Thank you for your kind words.
    2. I fully agree (and it’s known among wine geeks such as myself) that wine always tastes better when being poured from a magnum!
    3. Limited Mintage makes two different Gobrecht Dollars, and I’ve purchased both (each around $7 per oz. over spot). Even though my Registry Type Sets are high end, like you I don’t (and will never) own a real one, although I own real coins designed by Gobrecht, like my Liberty Seated Dollars).

The 1836 Gobrecht Dollar is the J61, and the 1838 is the J84:

@winesteven.... Thanks for showing that one.... I do believe I will get one also. As a fellow oenophile, I can appreciate the design as well as the quote. My preference is Cabernet Sauvignon wines. I have long been a wine drinker, and it made my years in Portugal particularly pleasurable. Cheers, RickO

You'd better hurry - I've been waiting all year for them to put some of these Bacchus rounds back in stock. Yesterday they put 18 in stock, and I bought three of them, so there are only 15 left as of now. Shipping is $8+, whether you get one or three (although it you get a lot, the shipping will get slightly higher). If you're interested in putting it in an Air-Tite capsule, the proper size is Y-50mm. I ordered three of them last night, and with shipping, it was $9.90 for the three capsules.

FYI, if you're looking for their numismatic items, look in "Categories", then "Modern Tribute Collection". They have about three pages of items, and they rotate making them available in stock, so at any particular point in time, many are out of stock. You can put the ones you want that are out of stock on their waiting list, so you'll get notified as they become available. it took me a few orders to get all of the ones I wanted.
