    Very cool coin. B)
I see you're having the same problem with multiple threads? So, I'm thinking it's the forum. PCGS is the main source of this new problem, no? :*

It has the square edge of a proof. I think it would be worth further investigation.

check some more authentic versions. the top left most cluster of leaves on the rev. the furthest left leaf on authentic versions seems to have issues, whereas yours does not. fwiw

The arrow doesn't look to match up with the bead like the two genuine ones.

Many or most of the beads appear to be spaced further apart on the counterfeit.

The OP’s coin the beads look like a string of pearls compared to the original coins beads.

On your coin, the bottom row of 5 feathers on the eagle's right wing (left as you look at it) are in a fan-like pattern. On the genuine examples posted, they are closer to being in a row.

The thing I noticed the most is the eagle's back wing. Areas of subtle and shallow relief are often the most difficult parts for a counterfeiter to replicate. Note the area (outlined in red) where the shallow feathers are reduced in detail to rounded dome-like "blobs":

Here is a known counterfeit. The details look washed out.
This is NOT a photo of the above coin. Just another example of a counterfeit out there.

I do like dcarr's recognition of the strange wing detail he pointed out. I thought it was simply due to wear yet does appear to be a part of the original die.

Good instincts by the OP :# . Crude naked-eye fake with a fabric screamingly unlike anything the mint has ever produced.

i rarely use the weighing as part of my authentication tools but it can be informative, especially when the counterfeits are well done. if the weight is off enough that alone can usually end it right then and there.

if you have time and would be so kind, will you post the weight of your example from the op and then the weight an authentic one would be.

the second example you posted is obviously erroneous.

I see lots of pictures of counterfeit patterns. One thing that nearly all of them in common, is that even though most of the genuine ones were struck as Proofs, the copies don't typically display mirrored surfaces.

The same goes for the Proof-only issues of Trade Dollars (1878-1885) and Proof 1895 Morgans - as a general rule, the copies don't look like Proof coins.
