Did you ever buy BU pre-33 gold from a bullion distributor? How did your grades turn out?

Recently watched a YouTube unboxing of a couple of gold double eagles from a large bullion distributor. The coins obviously were common years(1904 and 1904S) but looked pretty darn nice! Anyone here get a similar coin and have them graded? What did the coins grade out to be?

I’d imagine if they were worth grading, they would have had them graded.

It's probably true...but a lot of people around here feel the need to grade things that aren't worth grading.

To the OP, I've bought AU and UNC double eagles from Apmex. They were as advertised. But, of course, to slowhand's point, common date AUs and MS61/62 double eagles are not worth grading. It is highly unlikely that you would get a 64 or 65 in such a deal.

Bullion is for stacking..... If I want quality coins, I go to other sources. Cheers, RickO
