I reached someone via Chat , but they weren't able to help me.
They suggested I call the main # to reprocess my cc.

Same here. This is the lame reasoning. There is no issue with my credit card. I called the CC company first thing this morning:

I got that response as well once. Ended the chat and get another rep who was able to reprocess successfully.

They can't, or won't, change the payment information. They will rerun the payment information that they have.

So it seems some had to give order numbers and some did not.
Some gave credit card info and some did not.
Some asked and got a reprocessing of the charge and some did not.
Some confirmed just name and identifying details.

Almost all were told it was "fixed", but none of us know whether they actually fixed the issue, nor any idea what the actual issue was.

Yup, that's the Mint I know in my short exposure. Although the DMV, Postal Service, the IRS, and the State Dept are basically the same experience since the pandemic. Most private service businesses are almost as bad but not quite. Wonder if things will ever improve or terrible execution is our new normal permanently.

Everyone had to give order numbers. Otherwise they wouldn't know what you are talking about.

As for the rest, they were getting ready to ship. That's the first time they fully verify everything and run the payment. You will have all kinds of problems pop up. Wait until October when the Morgans get ready to ship.

this happened on both the ASE and the AGE

I've not heard of a problem of this magnitude before.

It does seem to be a bigger problem than usual. But they are also verifying more than usual. [They caught me on one account. ]

I'd also add that a lot were delayed. I only had 2 of 8 orders ship so far.

Anyone else notice that the prices on the AGEs changed? for instance, the 1/2 oz AGE is now $1,350 instead of the $1,375. I am HOPING the reprocessing of the transaction will give me the $25 discount.....works out to about $6.25 hourly discount for the 4 hours total I was on hold today and enduring that funky soulful hold music!!!

I think I got that same guy on Live Chat. He was great and got me taken care of painlessly! Did his name start with a T?😂🤣

sounds like you and I got the same agent...Terrence B. at least we know there are two agents on shift today (1 competent and at least 1 incompetent). Those agents certainly earned their paycheck for today, I do not envy them.

    That's him! He was great...😎

Yes, I noticed. The cost of the 4 pc gold was $5055. It is now $4,962.50. A $92.50 difference. I bought it at the higher price so that should be what my cc is charged. That is if my order was actually fixed today.

Any chance that Mint Director Ryder has an ounce of sympathy and directs that today's reprocessing transactions are run against today's prices since those insufferable $#%$%^$# had to deal with this charlie foxtrot? I already know the answer is know, simple wishful thinking over here.

After 1 hr hold, my cordless phone's battery ran out.
I hung up, several minutes later, the LIVE CHAT became available.
I chatted with the agent, 2minutes, he fixed the problem.
During the chat, he mentioned he had to charge on the same card, or the order would be cancelled. So, it verified that the
    agent can't change payment method.

Maybe when the contract with pfsweb expires in 2023, the US Mint will find a better partner to run this.

    well....

we've also had one chat person say they can't process credit cards since the covid restrictions.

    however

it is a true data point. if there are other of the same tale, that would help with confirmation.

Only 2 hours and 10 minutes on hold the second time around. They are getting better and this rep was certainly a vast improvement over the first one I dealt with.

I was so hoping for the four coin set🙃. I tried all day , all different prompts as well and could never get passed the busy signal. The 48 hr. clock is ticking , what a shame I may lose this order. I’ll try again today. Thanks for all the info, good to know I’m not alone.
I did send off an email to customer service. Who knows if they read them.

Is this happening with all orders or only subsequent day orders from when the window briefly opens up?

Maybe it's another of the mint's "improvements" - a two step ordering process to make sure you really, really want the coins.

Maybe they figure the flippers won't waste their time jumping through all the hoops.

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

This is unbelievable.... worse than trying to place an initial order on a hot item. After you believe you got your product, only to then be thrown back in the swamp. Glad I am not in this mess.... Hope it does not happen with the October shipments of the CC privy Morgans. Cheers, RickO

For me I received 3 emails. One of them was for the original launch date. The other 2 were for the brief window on subsequent days.

Be afraid! If it didn’t get you this time, unless the mint fixes the problem, it will happen again. And maybe on a larger scale.
I saw no movement on mine since yesterday even though I was told things are “fixed”.

This mess is caused by backordered items since the funding source chosen on purchase day may have issues on processing day. In our case it was a PayPal problem. On purchase day we had sufficient funds in our checking account to cover the $5k + set. On processing (billing) day we had changed some settings on PayPal to a smaller account. So, there were inadequate funds to cover the purchase. 3 dreaded emails from the mint arrived. We corrected the problem and all is now well.

  • jskillz95jskillz95 Posts: 87 ✭✭✭

How do we know if the problem is truly fixed? Does a new confirmation email go out or in the order status does the back order change to processing?

  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 34,120 ✭✭✭✭✭

I called unsuccessfully 30+ times yesterday. Today when I called with my order number, the automated response said my order would ship tomorrow. I check the order status and the status had changed from backorder to processing. So I am assuming/hoping the problem was fixed and will stop calling. :)

The mess definitely isn't JUST billing issues. I just finished getting off the phone with the Mint this morning, and I made no changes to my payment method, and didn't even need to re-confirm it. They just asked a bunch of questions that appeared to be in the vein of "prove you are you" and then they stated that they understood my frustration of having to call in, but that everything had already been resolved. It was unclear to me if that was a result of my call in, or if it had been resolved prior to me calling in. I checked my credit card statement and see a new pending charge, and the charge hit this morning before 4 AM ET, so that seems to indicate it went through without me needing to call.

I don't trust that "ship tomorrow" stuff.

I called on a backordered item (to complain about first in was not first out) and the automated system said my backordered item would "ship today"

I tried a backordered Morgan order and it also said "ship today"

somehow my backordered item flipped to processing yesterday (no one's intervention) and it said yesterday it would "ship tomorrow"

I think those people just have pacification info on that automated line

This is not billing problem. For me, everything is fine from my side. The mint messed up something, we do not know what.

I received 3 emails this morning from the US MINT. One after the other.
Thank you for your recent order. Unfortunately, we are not able to fulfill it at this time. Please call our Customer Service Center at your earliest convenience at 1-800-872-6468.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If we do not hear from you within 48 hours, we will automatically cancel your order. This is to protect you against any fraudulent activity on your account.

    The 3 orders:
    1- ASE T2 proof eagle (W) placed 7/23
    1 -ASE T2 proof eagle (W) placed 7/28
1- 4 coin AGE proof set placed 7/29

All of them placed with my usual credit card and none violated any HHL. ALL of these orders were backordered but now show processing.

I called the mint. I got the usual hold music and pressed one when able to have an agent call back. An agent called me back. She took my information and placed me on hold. Seven minutes later she hung up on me.

I have another call in to the mint and I’m waiting for another call back. Is this a glitch? What’s going on??

    Anyone else?

**receievd call back (again). The agent went straight to my first “hold” order as if he knew why I called. He said he will reprocess the order. He did this with all three of my orders that were on “hold”. He said they came available and went on hold during processing- no explanation as to why. He said it will now take one to two days to go through normal processing again. I asked if this was because of my credit card. He said no. But it wasn’t because the item wasn’t available. It was because it became available and they needed to rerun the card. That’s what I was told.
I guess I’m good? We shall see what happens next.

Thank you so much for the info!!

If the agent can't modify the payment method this time right before the shipping, I am not sure how they can fix the Morgan O "payment-method-blank" issue which many people here have. I am curious, what the agent did yesterday.

Flash back, my 2nd order for Morgan O, in Order History, the Payment Method is blank.

Just received email from US Mint with the following:

"We apologize for the recent email you received stating your order USM0989xxxx could not be fulfilled. The email was sent in error. Your order will be fulfilled and ship as scheduled. No action is required on your part. Again, we apologize for the error and inconvenience this may have caused. "

I expect anyone who had to call and wait or wait to chat will not be relieved by this email

in fact, this email will not be believed by them. people "had to rerun credit cards" or "verify billing address" or other hoops.

were all those hoops "in error," too?

this is really fishy and I'll keep adding that the automated order status system will still tell you your order "will ship today" or "will ship tomorrow"

my, I think we're being lied to... has anyone got a live body to say their stuff won't get cancelled? (because there is nothing they can do once it is cancelled except "refund" don't worry, "you'll get a refund.")

This seems weird that this happened all at once with various orders. Sounds like an IT glitch to me. The order I supposedly had this “problem” with was for one 1/10 ounce Type 2 AGE. Order status still says “processing”. I am not going to waste time calling or
chatting - if I don’t get the coin then so be it.

Chances are this is due to scalpers, basically at least in GPU's people use bots to buy all the stock and then resell it for 2-3x the MSRP. Bet thats happening here.

I think the Mint is AGGRESSIVELY going looking for those with more than 1 account Per Household. I have noticed that there are multiple different steps that they are making me go through to buy a coin. Bots plus those cheating with more than 1 account per household. I could be wrong. My credit card is good for many years but they have in the past made me call in to sort of run my CC number. I am sure this is part of their new system to catch and revoke said cheaters. You know who you are. :* We’re ALL suffering because of it. Now have a good day.

Disagree. I've had no new hurdles other than "prove you are human". I've talked to them 3x in the last 2 weeks and they've never asked anything about payments info. They ask for address, but they've always done that.

I'd also point out that I have...er.... modified CC addresses that wouldn't match if they ever checked. They don't.

I had a 1/2 ounce gold proof that I received the email about. I was able to chat with them to "resolve" the issue. Well, it WAS showing "best choice" under shipping method, and it just switched over to USPS... so it looks like it may be shipped soon. I did have a charge on my card for it that has since dropped off. It has not been recharged yet. Possibly it will when it ships?

Had email originally stating my order of 3 × ASE PR W could not be fulfilled.

Then on phone for hours with a busy signal yesterday after receiving that email.

Then requested call back today when calling them (thanks forum members for that suggestion).

They got back to me and said they still saw it pending and no issues on their end.

Dubious as I was, I'd done what I could.

Then I get this this morning.

I guess I'll believe my order's still good when 3 × ASE PR W show up on my doorstep.

    Good luck everyone.
