and are those fingerprints along the top?

I think it would be common and pretty if not for those pesky fingerprints. Doubt if that would sell for a premium over an untoned example, maybe a few bucks over to the right buyer.
The latent prints are most likely permanent damage. Peace Roy

I hope they aren't mine...
That's pretty much normal crescent toning on an ASE . This is one that developed pretty much the same type crescent toning in my Dansco
And if fingerprints then that had to have been the world's biggest thumb

The fingerprints are the pesky part. Maybe Acetone would remove them?

Fingerprints are slightly acidic (More on some people, less on others), so they etch the surface of the coin...Unless removed immediately. After that, it is permanent... and ugly on mirror surfaces. I was removing a proof British coin from a plastic holder (much like mint containers) once, and it popped out.... I reflexively caught it, putting a print on the obverse, mirror field. I quickly gave it an acetone dip, followed by alcohol rinse, followed by hot water rinse. All traces of the print were gone. I believe if I had waited even an hour, they would have etched the field. Cheers, RickO
The question of pretty or pesky is a personal choice as beauty is an individual opinion, my opinion is that its rather ugly and not something that I would buy. I have no doubt that others will see it as fine or even pretty to some, I would not consider it doctored.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
holder influenced and acceptable. Pure Silver is fickle

Yes ... I see fingerprints.
Still a nice one!
Pretty

Interesting... I acquired the coin no later than 2002. Since then, it has been in a tube. I vaguely recall it was toned when I got it... so it must have toned that way in ~1 year or so.

Appears original to me. Very nice.

@moursund...Depending on the storage environment, silver can tarnish quickly.... or not at all. Any source of sulfur in proximity to silver will cause tarnish. Paper, cardboard... boiled egg yolks.... Well, the last one is unlikely
but possible. Cheers, RickO
or it has been espoused / contaminated / handled prior to you buying it and then reacted over time

So when you make a deal with the devil, and he pays you in silver, the sulfur will have produced spectacular toning...?
My 2 cents is those are the fingerprints of the guy who used his thumb to get it to fit in an album. The "coloring" from the reaction to the contaminants in the album could not reach the parts of the coin that were covered in fingerprint oil.
@moursund.... Yes... You got that right.... Where do you think these 'monster' tarnished coins come from?? Yep...
Cheers, RickO
Those may not be fingerprints at all. Sometimes silver will tone in a way to mimic prints.
Pretty

... but I'm pretty sure they are fingerprints. Like the top of an old Dinty Moore Beef Stew can...
I disagree.
Yeah, I have to agree, they go from the fields up and over the rim - you want to say "Who would do that" - but nowadays nothing surprises me anymore.

Hmm... Can you find a photo of other 'look like prints but are really toned silver' examples? I'd love not to have prints on my Eagles...
Not at the moment. Sorry.
