UPS Personal Mailboxes

Does anybody here use UPS Personal Mailboxes, instead of a Post Office Box?
I was thinking of renting one of the boxes for when I start selling some coins.
They are closed right now, so I can't get any information.
If you do have a UPS Mailbox, has your experience been good or bad? Is it expensive?

I see a lot of potential disadvantages but I hope that someone who has such a box weighs in with first-hand experiences.
These are presumably PMBs (private mail boxes) offered by a local independent UPS store?
PMB cost is very high, and if you read the fine print you will probably find that your packages are not insured while on the premises waiting for you to pick them up. In other words, USPS insurance on any USPS packages sent to you ends when they get delivered to the store.
years ago I got a UPS store box, then found out that USPS did not process change of addresses for them.

I looked into it briefly within the last year. It would have cost about triple what I pay for my PO Box, and I decided it wasn't worth it. The potential liability issues hadn't even occurred to me, to be honest.
Why not just get a USPS box

I had one for six years when I was in PHX (2005-2011) and had no issues but yes, did read the T&C. It's a lot more expensive than a P.O. Box and the cost varies significantly depending upon where you live. P.O. Boxes were really hard to get. That's why I went with UPS.
Appreciate all the information provided.
I will get a post office box instead.
Thank you very much!
Good choice!
I have a UPS personal box because the post office in my town isn’t open on Saturdays. I work 45 minutes away during the week and would have to take a day off from work just to pick up a package. The UPS store is open on saturdays.
Mr_Spud
I use a USPS box with no trouble.
Good choice, OP! I looked into it and it is just too second rate.
First rate is your local post office box.
Are Post Office Boxes the same rates everywhere? I have one and it's annual rate this year is $134.00....that's more than it's ever been!!!
not same everywhere
Yes mine went up this year to about the same price, Onastone.
I have yet to find a more secure, accessible and well-maintained system anywhere else.
I have had one for over a decade, hundreds of coins (and dozens of wine cases) received, never a problem. Quick in and out which is not possible at our local USPS. Like anything in life (like mailing coins for example), there are risks, but my experience shows that having a UPS box, at least to receive coins and wine, seems to work well at least in this case.

I worked in the box section in Akron, OH for a couple of years. The above statement is true.
A few years ago, I looked into the UPS box.... Did not like the terms etc.. My Mom had a P.O. Box since she lived on a rural road.... she loved it. I stuck with home delivery... no problems, but I do not run a business out of the house. Cheers, RickO
Update:
I got a 5.5 X 11 Post Office Box. $48. for 6 months. 24 hour access.
Parcel locker available for larger packages, so you do not have to pickup at counter. They put the package in the locker, and the locker key in your PO Box.
Big difference in price from town to town. For the same size box where I live, it cost twice as much! And they do not have 24 hour access, or parcel lockers available.
Thanks to all of you again for the information provided.
Be aware if you receive a package that requires a signature, they won't put it in a locker. You'll still have to go to the counter.
I was very happy with my UPS store mailboxes; very efficient, and didn't have all the limitations of usps. Never had a security issue. 20 plus years, useful if you want the added security over valuables being sent to residence.
Same here, I've had my UPS box for 22 years. A lot of things I used to buy at a store I now order online, and l like having merchandise delivered to my UPS box rather than being left at my door. My local PO often has long lines for mailing/pickup, my UPS store rarely does. Also I have a key to access the box section anytime when the store itself is closed. Worth the extra money in my opinion.

Most USPS sites have lobby access 24x7, although if the package won't fit and they leave a notice, you are SOL.

Yeah, it’s because of packages that don’t fit in the PO Box that I need a place that’s open on Saturdays.
Mr_Spud
All the POs in my area are open at least until noon on Saturday.
BTW, no one says you have to have a PO Box in (just) your own town. When I worked in the city the PO had a branch in my building and I opened up a box there.
Over the years I have had a couple PMBs for short term use, but most of the places are long out of business.

As you are after hours with a UPS box.

I had a Post Office box where I worked, in Akron, while living in a suburb 20 miles to the north. I later closed that box and opened one in that suburb, which is a very small town. I had access to that box 24/7 via the lobby. It was such a small PO that it was in a trailer.
FWIW in my town:

UPS open more convenient hours, and never more than 5 minute wait (usually less to none) with polite service, typically at least 20 minutes at USPS, and never service with a smile. HST, I have been to much much friendlier USPS locations elsewhere so this is just specific to one location.
Best, SH
When I worked in the box section I was never rude or nasty with anyone. And I tried to smile in most cases. I had a couple of nasty customers where I just couldn't manage a smile.
My post office girls love me (or at least seem to).
It's often/usually easy to get on their good side - just don't be one of the complainers.
