1989 Lincoln Cent Struck-Through

Found in a bank roll, looks yo be struck through a small piece of wire. Judging by the amount of die scratches I would guess part of the wire brush used to buff out clash marks. Gave old Abe an extra-long whisker!

Is it me? It looks raised?
Pretty neat placement if you ask me…
yes strike through
.
it is a common thing on really close up and large images.
we've had some humorous banter over the years here with images like that with 1/2 of people thinking it is raised, the other 1/2 thinking it is recessed.
this one is recessed.
It's true. I know. That's why I was asking for clarification. It could be raised if the wire was retained.
The way it's contorted it may be struck through a thick piece of string as it looks flattened out. But either/or, it's still a nice strike through example.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Actually, if it was retained it would be flush with the surface, not raised, no?
Nice strike through and good images. Neat roll find for sure. Cheers, RickO
