Why is the forum operating like this all of a sudden?

It used to be that if someone suggested looking at a coin on Ebay, you'd just click the link and then come back to the forum when you were done looking. Now it says that I will be leaving the forum and it does throw you off when you go look at Ebay (or whatever). That seems like a step backwards to me. Is it just me who's experiencing this?

Just right click the link and open in a new tab. Then you can close it and go back to where you were on the forum.

I've had this happen as well over the past week or two. I don't know why we are now receiving the "warning", but in my case it has led to fewer responses on the boards because I don't bother continuing on to the next page.

LOL, my old computer died and I had to buy a brand new iMac. I thought it was the new software on the computer
I believe the mods explained it as a security type feature to give you a quick double check of the link you’re clicking off to go to in order to avoid phishing scams. It’s very easy to have a link look like it’s going one place but it really is going elsewhere. We are a bit too trusting…
What’s funny is when there is a link to PCGS.com it does the same thing since it is a different domain. Yup, big warning….you are leaving this domain to go to PCGS.com.
Here try it.

A lot of people have to be protected from themselves.

This is common on websites for liability reasons. For example in the pharmaceutical and dietary supplement industry which I am in, if something opens instantly from a company’s website the company is liable for the links content. But if it is at least 2 clicks away and a disclaimer is between saying you are leaving the company’s website then the company isn’t liable for the content that the link leads to.
I’m guessing the moderators don’t want to have to click all the links to make sure they aren’t leading to something that wouldn’t be permitted in actual posts which they actually do have to police. Something like that

I kinda like the warning. Not an inconvenience for me. And I'm back when I'm done. Peace Roy

The "auto-refresh" after hitting the back button drives me bonkers.
I don't know what's doing it but I wish it would stop.

What about now?

It's annoying. PCGS, please change it back!
Corporatization. Risk management. Policy. Same stuff that happens when every organization gets big, eventually.
I don't mind it too much.
Some people just post a hyperlink where a word in their post contains the link. There is no way to see the full address unless you click on it. If it was malware them it's too late at that point. With the new process, you have a chance to see the full URL.
Also, prior to this new process, if there was an ebay link in the thread, an ad for the ebay listing would pop up at the bottom of the screen. I don't know if this still occurs.
Minor inconvenience.... just two clicks to destination and two clicks back.... I can live with it. Cheers, RickO
I like it.
