This is very interesting but I can’t help but notice this John Coffee is not Black like the John Coffey in the book/film and he spells his name differently from the character but they both spell it “like the drink but not spelt the same way”
That was a great movie.... Did not read the book, though I did read many of King's books many years ago. Cheers, RickO
I have seen the movie and read the book and I have to say the movie is actually better than the book which very rarely is the case with movies.
John was the glue, the one constant that kept the AVA on a consistent path for 60+ years. Though the organization is still going & much effort has been put forth to keep it relevant, the loss of John's strong leadership has changed the AVA in many ways (and not all for the better IMHO as a long time member & specialist in this area).
Roland Atwood is considered the "Father" of the AVA with the standard catalog named after him. John Coffee's name was later added to reflect his hard work on the catalog over the years so it is now "The Atwood-Coffee Catalogue Of United States And Canadian Transportation Tokens".
Coffee and the aforementioned Hal Ford together purchased Roland Atwood's huge transportation token collection back in the 1950's and actually had a two person "draft" of tokens based on their relative financial contributions -- a collector's fulfilled dream of a sort.
.
Thanks for that info

Stephen King mentions various coins in many of his stories. I always wondered if he was a collector. He certainly could afford some really nice stuff.
