Whoever made the piece should have gone one grit finer.
“I believe in intuitions and inspirations. I sometimes feel that I am right. I do not know that I am. When two expeditions of scientists, financed by the Royal Academy, went forth to test my theory of relativity, I was convinced that their conclusions would tally with my hypothesis. I was not surprised when the eclipse of May 29, 1919, confirmed my intuitions. I would have been surprised if I had been wrong. I am enough of the artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” Albert Einstein- quoted in Saturday Evening Post interview (1929)
“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.” For Einstein, honesty was fundamental. Attention to truth in small things reflected a person’s integrity on a larger scale.
Would be interesting to have the weight of this worn gold piece to compare to the original weight to see how much wear occurred during this coin's evident circulation. Obviously hard considering the holder, unless one weighed an Uncirculated piece in its identical holder and then compared, maybe not exact, but considerably better than a guess.

Nice pocket piece. I've thought about get something similar but I'm about 90% sure I'd end up losing it and making someone else day. Enjoy.

It really makes you do a double take since you almost only see these coins in MS or AU. when you see one this worn it definitely is startlingly at first. Congrats on your purchase.

Uh, that's about a $9.50 Indian.
I love it.
thats a keeper for sure
Those wear nicely, but the obverse wear looks very new / shiny for it to be old wear.
Looks pretty evenly worn to me front to back. I like it.

Amazing. a gold eagle from A.D. 1000!
Should fit nicely with your set of problem free lowball coins.

Nice one, Bob.
Given how limited the circulation was, I think the lowball gold is of higher grades than other metals.
I was able to get the FR02 Sesqui $21/2 gold in that auction. No lowball Indian $10. If he had one it didn’t make it to the auction

I finally got the lowball pics up in the $10 Indian date registry set. It's number 42 out of 42.

Great looking gold coin. I don't think I've ever seen one that worn before.

I think its cool that the date looks like "1000"
It's all about what the people want...
That coin is “bad”, so in the lowball world, that’s “good”!

I have one in the regular $10 Indian date registry since they don’t have one in the lowball registry I’m last 😁

This is a really cool collection. And I'm thinking more challenging than going high grade.
