that's not my coin, but i've got one exactly like it here. looking to submit it but i can't figure out the catalog number. is it a so-called-dollar? any help is appreciated.

It's similar to HK-838 and HK-850 but not exact.

Yes....The reverse can be found in this set, sold by Heritage.

It almost seems like a mule. Isn't the reverse the one on the 1911 coin?

Anything is possible, but it's difficult to be sure. Burnie lists this 1897 obverse, but his reverse, while quite similar to this one, has the word 'pinch' added.
You don’t need the number to send it to PCGS, they will do it for you.
PCGS won't slab this but across the street will. And only them. You might find out its value by looking at GC auctions, as one just sold there a month or so ago. Heritage also sold several of them.
My guess is your coin is XF details. Should bring about $500. If it goes AU details or straight grade, then way more.
These were made for the PanPac exposition around 1915.

No, it is gold. I looked very hard at that as well (and I had it tested.....). Oh, I mean....if that coin was mine and all...
Aren't they only 14k? Quite possible for them to tone copper.

if I remember correctly, it tested 20-22k ish. could be plenty of copper in there.
I was more worried about it being the real deal (e.g. a real token) than a knock-off cal gold type.
