My brothers kids found this in their yard messing around with a metal detector.
I assume it had a ribbon that attached.
Its fairly heavy, so maybe brass, or ??
On the back it says S.D Childs & Co. Engraving Chicago IL
On the front has the letters HMMBA which i think stands for Hotel Mens Mutual Benefit Association.
Ive searched Google for awhile but didnt see anything, but thats how I found this site.
Other than that Id like to know maybe the year what its made of and possible value if any. Oh the black spots in the pics do come off just like kinda hard to remove its like dirt or something.

@sleepingciv.... Welcome aboard. Hold the medal under hot running water to remove most of the dirt... Do NOT rub or scrub. Then show us another picture and perhaps one of us can identify it. Cheers, RickO
