Colombia 20 centavo, 1947/5. Lots of overdates on Colombian coins in the late 1940s, but most of them are not this prominent.

do some homework and you will see it for yourself. d/l the wonderfully high-grade quality images (really just sickening how many large high-quality images are available at our fingertips) and learn the basics of 1-2 programs, look at many other rpd, overdates etc. then show is your results. if you are really that concerned or curious.
- some of the best threads are those with the knowledge, willingness and moxie to challenge things like this and even then sometimes, there still are disagreements. we just move on until the next.i look forward to one of your future threads expressing your concerns or validating what you have found is true for this or any other; like MANY of us have done on MANY occasions.
normally i would just knock something like this out but this one is so obvious and i am relaxing after a fairly humid day which really zaps my energy.
last thought; it is possible there are mint records stating these things. there are a good couple of places to start, if you've been paying attention here.

These are hard to see the over dates but the LC is an 1820/19 and the bust dime is an 1830/29. Very low grade/culls.

There is a clear and obvious remnant of the 6 atop the 7, so nothing to prove.
Many overdates show remnants of the underdate inside or on either side of the replacement digit(s). Those remnants are very near the level of the field.
Some overdates show remnants of the underdate deeper into the die than the replacement digit(s), so that the remnants of the original digit(s) sit atop the replacement digit(s). The earliest publication of such an overdate that I am aware of was an 1880 8/7 that I published in Collectors Clearinghouse back in 1975. It was later assigned a number as VAM-23.

Thanks. That coin actually belonged to Mrs_Spud’s late grandparents. We believe it was from her grandfathers fathers coin collection. He was born in the 1800s and the family stayed in the same town where Mrs_Spud grew up in NJ right across the River from Philadelphia.
I’m thinking of getting that coin, as well as some others from the collection, slabbed. There’s almost a whole type set of bust coins in it. I like them a lot even though they are lower grade, because I know no one doctored them.

Here’s most of them. Along with some mercury dimes and other newer coins that her grandparents saved from the cash register in their farmers market/bakery/greenhouse business that was on the same farmland that their family owned for over 200 years.
