Who Recognizes this Iconic Pose?

Aside from numismatics, I have a deep fondness for wildlife and whilst at a bird sanctuary today, I captured this photo of a bald eagle exhibiting a rather familiar stance.

You couldn't get that shot again in 100 visits.
They do that sometimes to cool themselves, Great picture!
Very cool! I put a long post together a few months ago with a bunch of eagle photos I took in Alaska, but I couldn't find one among my shots that had this pose.

Awesome post, to get up close and personal with such majestic birds must have been amazing! I especially liked the first comparison, the likeness of the flying eagle cent to your photo is near perfect.
Cool
Now THAT is "Kool with a K".

They’re just amazing. I’ve seen a fair number of them locally of late, but not as close up or as prolonged as when I was in Alaska. Boy was that incredible.
Great photo. I think I see a “S” on his chest
That is an awesome picture! I think we should stop putting all these stupid designs on the back of our quarters, and return the eagle, to the reverse.
I nominate Peter the Mint Eagle to adorn the reverse of the Washington quarter!

Glad to hear.........so do I. Great picture. Instead of cooling themselves, when birds stand like that they are actually absorbing solar energy and raising their body temperature - hence "Sunbathing"

@MJ1927... Nice picture.
@airplanenut .... That was a really great thread and pictures. Thank you for linking it, I went through it again. I like eagles... Saw a lot when I lived in WA state and there are many here in the Catskills as well. Cheers, RickO
