If today's buyer of the 1933 $20 gold were to immediately consign the coin back to Sotheby's...
...for sale in July 2021, what would the sale price be (all-in)?

How angry is the under bidder? What was the bid of the second highest under bidder?
One less bidiot bidding on the coin.
So, does that mean the coin market started dropping today?

I'd guess less as the underbidder no longer has to compete with the high bidder and I don't think you would suddenly have someone new enter that soon.
If the person who won the coin is already willing to flip it, then there will be one less money source bidding and this calibur of a nonissue coin cannot survive much of that happening. It would appear to be a social standing item and as it was not intended for issue most likely will have a low bidding group. One must realize this is the first time this item has legally been offered for sale. Correct me if I am wrong. I feel it has had its run. JMO

If there were only 2 bidders above about $14 million, then it stands to reason.. about $14 million.

2nd time. Or are you arguing the first time resulted in it becoming legal with the $20 payment?

Heritage bid $15M and $16M all in respectively. Then there was the winning bidder and the underbidder
…this poll is dumber then my empty bag of weed
There ya go then. Didn't know that.
Still don't know it, but i believe you.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
My mistake.

No opinion here
Actually, it was trying to make a point. Many people want to point to the sale price of this one-of-a-kind trophy as some kind of bellwether of the coin market. Yet, by their own choice in the poll, they think this coin is worth less today than yesterday.

You could have an "empty bag of weed" if the bag is made of weed.

Not true at all. It’s only worth less if dumped on the market. I can’t tell you the number of times the purchaser of a trophy coin is offered a profit the very next week. In fact, Oliver was offered a profit on his mega purchase of the 1804$10, as was I on my purchase of the 1804$1 - AFTER giving the original buyers a huge profit. AND, in this instance, the underbidder actually bid higher than the winning bidder.
