Going silent for awhile again!!

I had bid on a roll of coins earlier this week. The seller has cancelled the auction because he is either on this message board or someone offered him a lot more. The roll had an 1888 indian cent which i believe. 99% is the 8/7 in good-vg. So i am going to bid at the last minute as i used to do many years ago. Ill still post my finds and questions but not my link to the auctions.

Do you have a picture? I'd be interested to see this potential 8/7.
But as others said, cherrypicks aren't official until you physically have them.

I've had that happen with a few items on ebay. I don't post cherrypicks nor assumed cherrypicks here or anywhere else.

I had not won it but the auction ended friday night. I only placed a bid and i even set an alarm on my phone a half hour early. My bid was cancelled and the auction is no longer there. It felt like someone is looking at what im bidding on and made a hefty offer to the seller. I did not think i needed to save a pic either. Oh well you win some and you lose some!!!

One item I lost was a 16/16 Buff in decent grade but corroded. I had it won and paid for but the seller cancelled the transaction and refunded my payment. I think a little bird told the seller what he had. But I didn't let it discourage me. Don't let it discourage you, Tony.

If a find like that was evident to you by looking at the auction photos, the likelihood of someone else on ebay noticing it and messaging an offer to the seller is greater than someone from this message board submarining you.

It is very difficult to stalk bidders on eBay nowadays, I would be very surprised if someone was able to track your bid to the lot and use that information to convince the seller to end the auction early. More likely that someone else noticed the variety independently and was able to short-circuit the auction.

For really nice cherrypicks, I like to place a low early bid to try and prevent sellers from cancelling the auction early. I figure it's harder to talk a seller into closing an auction if there is already action on it.

Sorry to hear about this... But likely someone spotted it and mentioned it to the seller...Cheers, RickO

Shouldn't the listing still be accessible?
