Any premium?

As I understand it, an unc sold at auction years ago for around $300.

Thanks!

Is it safe to assume the one that sold for $300. was an absolutely GEM example, and perhaps one that is circulated would have very little collector interest? I don't know- just food for thought.

My opinion is there are way more people looking for these minor varieties then there are people that collect them, but I did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night so there is that.

300 bucks? Maybe, but only if it also has a "floating" roof like this one.

Seriously, I wouldn't attach a $300 value to one of these but it wouldn't surprise me if one did sell for that amount, and as braddick says only if it was a gem red example. There certainly is slight interest in something like this but not much I would think. And I doubt if a circulated example would be worth more than a couple of bucks. There are several on ebay right now, ranging in price from $2.89 to an absurd $519.69.

When checking change, I do look for this variety, but would not buy one. A minor variety, with not a lot of interest. Cheers, RickO

pcgs has a general price listed of hundreds of dollars for these in 64/65/66 red attributed.

did a basic search a couple/few weeks ago and saw a couple at major auction houses over the past few years match up with the pcgs price guide (coinfacts) estimations. fwiw

saw a raw red coin sell for $50+ on the bay at a "true?" auction, so there is an interest but like others have said; may be a thin market interest.

attributed, problem-free pcgs neat varieties will almost always find a home. that name carries numismatic items a LONG way.

The pics he sent me are pretty crappy; not worth posting...ditto the condition of the coins. Can't see them going for much more than a buck or two apiece.

Actually, a couple bucks is what I also think is about it.
