Managed Payments on Ebay Unmanageable for me.
When I signed up for the managed payment plan on ebay, I was told as an above standard seller I would be charged 12.5% fees for selling including shipping and handling for coins, etc.on the sales amount. Wasn't real glad, but whatever. Made my first sale today and was charged 17.5% on a $110 sale and they do not tell me what the customer actually paid, no email from ebay regarding funds received and to be paid out WTFLI(whenever they feel like it). Have not heard yet from ebay other than when I tried to send customer a thank you and sales receipt they said too late already paid---But paid what? They just tell me that I will receive $92. 35 on a $110(includes S/H) sale. I believe I will moving back to BST and sell what I sell. They must be adding paypal's old fees to their fees. ![]()
Sorry to complain, but honestly after selling on Ebay since 2004 this is the first truly upsetting occurrence. I have been well satisfied when figuring the number of buyers presented with a listed auction, but this is a little steep. I could nearly go to an auction for these percentages. I'm sure there will eventually be an explanation, but not sure it will matter.
Thanks for allowing my rant, first ever against ebay that I remember.

I ike it better, the 1st invoie is what Paypals woud have paid out, no money from Paypal's
The information that you are looking for is easily found in the seller hub.
Click on the payments tab -> Click on the order number.
This shows your selling price, shipping, sales tax collected and any discount.
You need to keep in mind that they take the final value fee on the shipping and sales tax.
They do send an email when the buyer pays:
The payment from xxxxxxxxxx is confirmed: 1976-S $1 Proof Eise...
If you set your payout to weekly the delay in getting the payment processed isn't as frustrating
First thing I did, jml. Unless I'm not seeing it correctly here's the transaction details.

You are clicking the wrong place! You need to click on the order number in blue something like 14-07084-10619
Not really concerned about payment time period as long as I get it. But when I go to the seller hum and click on payments tab it merely says 000 onhold and $92.45 pending.
and the three items highlighted below are Transactions, Reports and Payout Schedule of which none answer the questions as you say. Not trying to start an issue, just dissatisfied.

@jmlansaf Is the customer outside the US?
No, Illinois.

You should get a screen like this with order numbers click the order number.
I haven’t sold anything since I was converted to managed payments. That said, I do have two friends who sell certified baseball cards, and they are saying total fees are now running almost 18%. Wow. I need to sell something and see where I land. Crazy...

I thank you for your post and finally I found the same page you list. Cannot find it on my seller dashboard or my ebay, have to go to google and ask for Seller Hub and as soon as I click on it, it takes me straight to my account with no login(perhaps because I'm already logged in) and shows exactly what you presented me. Again,I thank you. Still ridiculously high fees, IMO.

I think that when you say: "But paid what? They just tell me that I will receive $92. 35 on a $110(includes S/H) sale."
You need to note that on a $110 sale there is probably about $8 in taxes and $3 in shipping that the 12.35% fee is figured from. So it may be more like $121 x .1235 = $14.94 then add the 30 cents which comes to $15.24 and now add the $3 for shipping that they're charging you and you have $18.24.... Does this make sense?
Total including taxes is 118.35 which is $14.xx. Why am I paying for shipping when I pay to ship it myself at the p.o? If they are automatically charging me shipping then I for sure will no longer sell on ebay. I'll have to raise my price 10% extra just to cover their bull stuff charges. If everyone else is satisfied with this, then I'll stand alone and cry by myself.
Thanks everyone for your replies and help, especially djm.

Sorry I was trying to do the math and I assumed you used the ebay shipping, my bad. I'm at a loss then as to why your fees are higher than it seems they should be. The formula I used is always within a few cents of how the costs work out for me. I do use the ebay shipping label though, so I know that they charge the fee as a percentage which does include shipping. 12.35 % of sales price, taxes, & shipping combined, and then 30 cents per transaction.
Show a breakdown of the fees
maybe they charged some for 'store'
Took a learning curve but I love managed payments. Removing paypal from the equation has simplified many things.
After a sale start here:
Under Listings tab/Orders (sold) start by clicking on order number which allows you to see and print (control P) sale details. It also give you a drop down menu to:
after each action it returns you to the drop down menu.
Under the orders tab, once you print a label or mark as shipped, items are automatically moved from "awaiting shipment" to "all orders" and to "paid and shipped." Under orders tab a "shipping labels" selection allows you to reprint or void a label as well as print a shipping label and print a packing slip.
With a basic store, selling and payment processing fee (replaces paypal) are actually cheaper than the old way with paypal and come in under 10% total for the sale.

To clarify:
You don't pay ebay for shipping unless you use ebay shipping labels.

Sorry to hear but selling online has its expenses.
I like the managed payments and their monthly statement download. My advice is compute your variable and fixed selling expenses on the bay plus any non bay fixed costs of the business to develop a minimal markup factor. It helps to have some inventory classes one can markup 50 - 100 pct over cost to give the offense more punch.
Promotional fees can increase selling costs. At month end while updating spreadsheet for P&L I analyze what they are charging me as pct of sales. The shipping labels save me money and time standing in line at po.
Shows are different for me because there I can take advantage of buying material from a wholesaler below bid then get material markup for retail whether shows or store. The neg is the fixed table fee hole have to get out of and any other fixed costs of show. I won’t take less than cost plus 10 pct in a wholesale transaction with another dealer or cost plus 20 pct in transaction with public. If they try mess w me “bid is so and so” I simply tell them to go find one. If overall show GM neg then I just take my stuff home and hope next time at bat better.
Just sold my first item under managed payments, a non coin item. Not a user friendly process to say the least.
Sell price = $18.50. Managed payment fee = $2.99. USPS ship cost = $3.58.
35.5% in fees. 16.1% ebay fees. Would have paid 13% in old system.
Many successful BST transactions with dozens of board members, references on request.
I think the new eBay CEO (2020) broke ebay ........
The item that you sold would it happen to be a book , music, or a movie. The managed payment fee for this category is 14.55% which works out to exactly what you were charged by eBay.
I like managed payment. It is much better than PayPal
Ok here is some of the examples:
sold a con for 2398. The fee is 204.13 and the promoted fee is 83.93. So total fee for this item is 204.13+83.93=288.06.
sold a coin for 1598 the fee is 148.18
sold a coin to international for 1066. the fee 101.66.
I just joined managed payment for only a month but it works for me.
My pay out day is daily. so it takes about 3 to 4 days for me to get the money and I don't have to do anything for getting the money.
You guys me to tell me that a coin selling for say $13000. costs the "bigger dealers" 19.5 % to Ebay? That seems huge to me.
eBay says that the final value fee for items in the "Coins" category is 8.5% + 30 cents for sellers with an eBay store. I have an eBay store and made a sale of $849.95 recently. So let's see...
$849.95 x 0.085 = $72.24575 + 30 cents = $72.54575, rounded to $72.55.
Checking my eBay account, I see that the fees paid on this item were... $72.55.
It's not rocket surgery.
not sure how many people utilize this but consider bookmarking/favorites for certain pages so you don't have to dig for them again. i try to make it so i use very few links on ebay/sites. just go directly to the pages with all my bookmarks right above/below each other. 30-40 just for ebay in their own little folder and exported and saved in my backup.

Yes, it was a book. Did not know that it was at a different rate. I've sold many, many books on ebay and never noticed this before the managed garbage which may be sweet for some sellers but not for me. Another little thing that tics me off is I lost my seller feed from My Ebay page and now have to access it from the Seller Hub. Like I said, I've sold many coins on BST and books also and will return. It doesn't seem to have quite the number of hits as a couple of years ago. I thank you for your help djm and all that replied to my post.

eBay has definitely screwed up in one major way: customer education. The fact that so many sellers mistakenly believe their fees are much higher that they actually are is a problem. And it is certainly confusing how eBay calculates and displays things so it's tough to just blame mistaken sellers.
There could be other fees for guitars. The low FVF is just the bass fee.
Thanks for clearing that up for me
I kinda like managed payments now....cash sent right to my checking account (new account opened just for this) ...but....my shipping label fees are still being paid through PayPal
Any info on how to change it so everything is billed by Ebay?
My dealer friends tell me they pay costs in total of 10% for any coin from $1000 to $15000 on Ebay. Is that a correct understanding of the costs? I figured I'd ask just so I don't make a low ball on an "best offer" option.
