Silver in the Wild

Been such a long time since I received silver in change. Another benefit of using cash over plastic, too. Bought dinner tonight for me and my wife and the bill was $26.70. Handed the cashier a twenty, a five and two singles and got three dimes back including this one. Not bad for 78 years old.

Nice! I haven't gotten a Mercury Dime or a Buffalo Nickel in change for a long time now. Even the Wheaties are less common.
Very nice, free silver.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
It has been a very long time since I received a Mercury in change.
That's a winner!
Nice coin, but where in the hell can you take your wife for dinner, and have the bill come out to only $26.70?
Take out at the fresh fish market~bucket of buffalo shrimp, cod and haddock with side orders of shrimp cocktail and stuffed clams. A great deal!

Nice one!
That is really great.... Cannot recall the last time I got a Merc in change. Roosevelt dimes, yes, even a few Washington quarters.... Sounds like a great meal too... Cheers, RickO
The last time I got a Mercury dime in change was in the early 1980s. It was at the cafeteria where I worked.
Congratulations on the dime. That’s a very nice looking coin!
indeed cool, congrats
That's a pretty good feeling isn't it? I think it's the same feeling we each get with silver. If you're like me, you can hear it a split second before we see it.
Like going to a random bank and asking the teller if she has any half dollars in the bank she want to get rid of. She'll check her draw and asks the other tellers. She came up with $6.50 in halves. As she was counting it out in front of me, I could "hear" the SILVER! I could tell right away, there were 2 or 3 in the bunch! It's like having an anxiety attack or jumping out of your skin waiting for her to hand you the half dollars.
I had my wife release a herd of buffalos this past week......about 15 coins. Hope it makes someone happy. In Vegas of course if you are wondering.

Nice silver....haven't done that yet......
Great! Not too often when you go to a restaurant and they end up giving YOU the tip!

--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.Since last fall, the change machine at the laundromat has spit out four silver quarters, two W and even a blank planchet.
Last month after coming home from a day of working in Maine, I emptied my pockets to the change jar and noticed a wheat cent, which made me look at the rest of my change closer. Found a well worn 1879 cent as well. Assume they came from the same place, but didn't notice when it was given to me.
