Medals from my local coin club.
Only 400 minted in 1972 at the US Mint in Philadelphia. Weight 8.32 ounces, 3 inch, .900 silver. The Latin reads "At sea, I was Invincible". These are now very rare as they were issued at only $35 before the big run up on large silver and many were lost to the melting pot.

While I DO have all the modern electronics, I still stay in practice navigating the old fashioned way...

Oh, and a couple of HK-398s...

Believed to be the first US Mint Medal with a P mint mark for the Philadelphia Mint. Only 200 were struck and this 3-inch one is 8.5 ounces of .900 silver, The reverse has a sailing ship and nautical navigational instruments, along with the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps insignia. There are only a handful of these medals out there left, and they are now very scarce, R-5+
Designed by Felix Weihs de Weldon (April 12, 1907 – June 3, 2003) who was an Austrian-born American sculptor. His most famous piece is the United States Marine Corps War Memorial (Iwo Jima Flag raising Memorial, 1954) in the Arlington National Cemetery, Virginia, US. You can see some similarity in design with the 4-men handling the concrete bucket.

You have to love those "shipwreck" coins that spent well over a century between the devil and the deep blue sea! Both silver and gold coins have that shipwreck "effect".
Something nautical. Instructions followed.

Ahhh, the Riviera Docks at Lake Geneva. I used to own a cottage on another lake about 15 minutes away.
If anyone goes to Lake Geneva (usually escapees from Chicago), I highly recommend a boat tour from these docks. But not just any boat tour - take the mail boat run instead of the more traditional boats. The mail boat still delivers mail to the lakeshore mailboxes of a large number of homes on the lake. Not only is it an informative tour of the lake, but highly entertaining watching the mail runners get the mail to the mail box before they miss getting back on the boat. You see, the boat never stops moving....
Here is a greyside coin I have always liked.

Yes, my favorite getaway place! So convenient, being so close (90 min. Drive).

So historical, fun, shopping, EATING, relaxation and amazingly beautiful.
Yeah, the boat rides are awesome too. Never took the "mail run". Maybe, next time? The mansions are cool to think all these well known Chicago business men lived there.

I would watch the p-3 orions fly out of the Naval air station in Southern Maryland . While fishing they also would fly up the bay and over The Russian compound see link.
For a fact the compound was used for spying. As back in the day right across the bay were the radio towers that communicate with the the North Atlantic fleet.
The location of the compound on the point of tha Chester river was perfect for picking up radio transmissions from numerous bases, as well D.C. is only 30 mile away from the compound.
I would crab off the point as the area was good area for fishing and hunting.
Those who don't know this area or D.C. the Russian embassy sits a vew blocks down the road from the National Cathedral on the opposite side of of the road. On the highest point in the city...aint that special?

Both of these show Shipping-related themes: A Rhode Island Ship Token from 1779, and a rare William Pitt Farthing minted in 1766.
This medal was part of the offical invitation from the USN for entrance to the event.

This Libert ship was built not 10 miles from my home. She still sails 4 times a year on a day cruise down the Chesapeake. She out run many German uboats right off the Delmarva coast.
