Anyone CAC sticker a full upgrade using “resticker”?

After a PCGS “reconsideration” and using the same cert number as before?

I tried once on a OGH 65 CAC Commem that went 66. CAC did not grant it a sticker at the higher grade.

A later time I opted to use “regrade” at PCGS in order to ditch the old cert number. This time a new grading at CAC proved successful at the higher grade. I informed CAC after the fact to remove the old cert from their population.

Do you feel there is some bias if it is known that the coin had a green sticker already in a lower grade? Examples?

    My understanding is that if you use PCGS Reconsideration, and succeed in getting an upgrade to the next whole grade number (like 65 to 66, or 65+ to 66), CAC says you should NOT use “Resticker” on the CAC submission form for $3 (fees are being raised very slightly soon), but pay the normal $15 fee even though the cert number remained unchanged.

    The lower Resticker fee when the cert number remains unchanged is only if the upgrade was to a “+” with the same whole grade number, or if the grade is the same, but the coin was ”Reholdered” for any reason, and retains the same cert number.

    In your example, I’ve had a few coins upgraded via Reconsideration to a higher whole grade number, and then paid the normal fee, and in this small sample size, they each managed to get the sticker again, as apparently CAC felt they were solid in that new higher whole grade (even though the prior holder had only a green sticker and not a gold sticker).

    A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!

    I guess the question; is a OGH cac 62 worth more than a non-cacs non-OGH 63+ even though in this case we are talking about the exact same coin. $17.5K+ swing, in my day $17.5K was a new ride. lol crazy world!

    It is my opinion, that opinions are just opinions - although some opinions are far more practiced than other opinions. When it come to opinions on coins, I prefer the practiced opinions - and my opinion is the final opinion when selecting a coin - albeit my opinion is not as practiced as some other opinions. ;) Cheers, RickO
