Very nice!
I've always wanted one of those but the price levels for a really nice example have held me back.
Four collectible areas.
1. Numismatics
2. Political
3. Ephemera
4. Historical
BTW, I checked all 4 major TPG's. ICG is the only one that will slab these. I'm happy to just have it protected in a holder.
@MWallace... I have never seen one of those before. I would assume the stamp would degenerate quickly if not protected. Thanks for showing that. Cheers, RickO
Encased postage stamps circulated during the Civil War along side tokens and other money substitutes due to a serious coin shortage. Businesses would put stamps in a small copper frame with advertising on one side and a mica window on the other side so you could see the stamp. These are neat collectables but you have to be careful. Some have been opened and have been "improved" to increase their value. Scammers would open the case to replace a broken mica window and/or replace a faded common low denomination stamp with a more valuable higher denomination stamp. That's why it's important to check the edge of the frame for any signs of prying or other tampering with a good magnifier. I'm glad to see at least one grading service is slabbing these important pieces of history.

First of all yours is quite rare as far as I’m aware of. Secondly it’s a damn shame pcgs does not slab these! They need to step up and recognize these rarities.
.
Now, to what I wanted to say......lol I do have a few cross collectibles. One in particular where the box or
coin holder is rarer than the tokens themselves. I’ll post that later. I wanted to post a compliment to yours. This is a gold gilt version of Tildens campaign and while I don’t have many cross collectibles I do enjoy finding my images of certain tokens or coins show up.
.
My image showed up on coinweek, not long after I won this and posted it here. I tried showing the prooflike fields it has......somewhere I have those pics too.

Very nice Stephanie. I was not aware of the Tilden Convention / Drake's Plantation token.
As a side note: One of the TPG's (which will remain nameless) replied very snootily when I asked if they graded Encased Postage, "We don't do stamps,,,,,, we do coins".
